Kid’s Simple Tooth Extraction

Last year, my son was complaining about his tooth and when we checked it, parang meron nang sira so I informed the dentist about it. But the dentist told us na “hayaan na lang daw na matanggal kasi baby teeth naman daw and baka masira kasi yung alignment ng teeth”. She also informed us about the sealants.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating painted on the premolars and molars to prevent tooth decay. The sealants can protect the teeth through the cavity-prone years which is 6 to 14 years old. It is a painless process but painful for my pocket, hehehe! We paid PHP800 for each tooth so a total of PHP3200 for his dental sealants.

Few months had passed and my son complained again about his tooth so I just told him that we will go to the dentist pag-uwi namin sa Pinas. So we scheduled an appointment but to my disappointment, the dentist canceled his appointment two days prior to his schedule at may mahaba daw procedure so hindi na niya magagawa yung sa anak ko.

Simple Tooth Extraction

We don’t want to wait anymore so we just go to other Dental Clinic kahit magbayad na kami. Three years ago was my son’s first tooth extraction experience, we went to a Pediatric Dentist to do the procedure. Mukhang wala naman trauma anak ko, ako lang natrauma sa expense. Lol. Since my son is already 10 years old and I feel na matured na siya so sa regular dentist na lang kami nagpunta for simple tooth extraction. Free sana because of our health card but the dentist rescheduled his appointment so napunta kami sa ibang clinic.

Simple Tooth Extraction by Pediatric Dentist

Anyway, a child needs a tooth extraction if

1. Tooth decay is too extensive for restoration
2. Preparation and space management
3. Baby teeth fail to fall out before permanent come in
4. Removal of chipped or damaged teeth that cannot be repaired

In my son’s case, may butas na daw kaya sumasakit. Ayaw namin mahawa pa yung ibang teeth so tinanggal na talaga. I thought it will only take a few minutes like nung first tooth extraction niya but I was wrong, depende din siguro sa cases. The dentist took a long time din to remove his premolar tooth, she even said na parang hindi baby tooth yung sa anak ko sa tigas. Hehehe!

She also advised me to have an x-ray before my son hit 12 years old, kasi ang dami pa daw baby teeth ng anak ko. Para daw macheck namin kung need tanggalin yung baby teeth para makalabas yung permanent teeth or hayaan na lang. May cases din daw kasi na wala talaga permanent teeth so aalagaan na lang yung baby teeth.

We paid PHP600 for his tooth extraction, mas mura talaga compared sa Pediatric Dentist. Since it was just a simple tooth extraction, no need for an antibiotic. She just informed us to drink paracetamol. She also shared some information on how to take care after extraction or surgery.

Tooth Extraction Aftercare

1. Apply a cold compress for 20 minutes, 2 to 3 times for the first 24 hours.
2. Take your medicine as prescribed.
3. If pain persists after 3 days, see your dentist.
4. Avoid strenuous activities. No flying or diving for at least two days.
5. Avoid sucking on anything for at least a week.
6. Do not take hot liquids for 24 hours.
7. Do not smoke for 48 hours.
8. Avoid spitting for 24 hours. Wipe your saliva with a tissue.

My son just took a rest for one day and nagkaroon ng reason para kumain ng kumain ng ice cream. The following day nakapag-Landers na nga kami and he can eat regular food na, parang walang nangyari.

Where to Stay in Jakarta Indonesia

Jakarta Indonesia is not a tourist destination, in fact, it is notorious for having horrible traffic so it is very important to choose a hotel that is near a shopping center or restaurant so you don’t have a problem when you want to buy something or you want to eat out.

But despite the fact that Jakarta has traffic problems, what caught my attention is their hotels. My husband is a frequent visitor to Jakarta, Indonesia, and for the past few years, he was able to try different hotels and one of his favorite hotels is located in Indonesia.

So if you are planning a quick visit to Jakarta after your Bali trip, if you want to have a family staycation, or if you want to have a relaxed business trip then check these hotels.

They are true to their word “Experience a stay like no other” because when it comes to service my husband was very pleased. Service is excellent, and you will feel spoiled and pampered especially for returning guests.

The bed, pillows, and duvet are very comfy that you just want to sleep and sleep. They replenished fruits and toiletries every day. They also give complimentary chocolates every night and sometimes they give a voucher that you can use at their restaurant. They have 5 restaurants, one lounge, a bar, and a cake shop. Glimpse of Garuda Indonesia Executive Lounge at Jakarta International Airport

My husband was back from Jakarta, Indonesia last week and he was surprised when he landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Aiport Terminal 3. It was his first time in this terminal, it was different because of the modern design compared to Terminal 1 and 2 of Jakarta International Airport. In fact, it was the best airport terminal in the year 2017 in Indonesia at the 9th Bandara Awards.

And because of that, he was able to visit Garuda Indonesia Executive Lounge in Terminal 3. He used to stay at Premier Lounge so he was happy to try Garuda Lounge. Passengers of other SkyTeam Member Airlines of the same class with SkyTeam Elite Plus have free access to this lounge.

Shopping at Landers Superstore Alabang West

Landers Superstore is one of the membership stores here in the Philippines. So far, they only have few branches so I’m just glad that there is Landers Superstore Alabang. But it took me a long time to visit this store because…

1. I thought it is far and mahirap puntahan.
2. We have a membership at S&R so I was thinking kung need ko pa ba ng isa?
3. And I’m saving money so iwas temptation muna.

For the past two years, I did not renew our membership at S&R because nawili ako maggrocery sa Landmark - Festival Mall. But after seeing all the B1T1 deals, PHP1 products and discounts on social media, I finally suggested to my husband to visit Landers so we can check.

Good thing, umabot pa kami sa last day of their Super Crazy Store sale. We arrived around 9:20AM and mahirap na makakuha ng parking. Since it was our first time, my husband applied for a membership card. There is a promo so he paid PHP400 only instead of PHP800 membership fee.

Landers Superstore Card Benefits:
  • Access to a wide selection of top-notch local and international branded goods
  • Participation in Super Crazy Sale, Super Fuel Sale, and other promotional activities
  • Free haircut or shampoo and blow-dry services at Federal Barbers
  • Up to ₱10.00 off per liter on gasoline at any Landers Caltex stations
  • Member discount at Capital Care Pharmacy
  • Excellent food and drink choices from Landers Central, Doppio, Dough & Co.
  • Fast and easy shopping on our online store
Everything was organized so applying for the card is not difficult and may upuan pa while waiting. I noticed na maluwag naman yung store nila especially yung lobby. They have Barber Shop, Pharmacy Store and Landers Central for foods and drinks.

For grocery cart, shoppers are not allowed to get grocery carts outside the store so you have to wait for available cart. You can shop naman without cart but I doubt kung makakaya mo kasi for sure mabigat ang bitbitin mo. This is a good idea para first come, first serve talaga and walang abangan ng grocery cart sa parking. Malilimit din nila yung number of people sa loon kasi ang hirap mamili pag ang sikip.

Anyway, after getting the card our shopping begins. When I saw the long lines na umabot na ng dulo, I told my husband na pumila na siya and ako na lang nag-ikot. I haven’t explored all the aisles nga nung nakita ko na malapit na sa cashier si hubby so I stopped looking around na. Maybe next time, nabili ko naman yung nasa list ko, yung bed sheets, pillows and iron.

What I like about Landers Superstore Super Crazy Sale?

1. Very organized from parking, membership application, sa pila sa cashier.
2. I like their Surprice promo where you can buy products for PHP1 only. It depends on the day that you are going to visit and while supplies last.

Roskilde Cathedral in Denmark

Roskilde is not only known for Viking Ship Museum but it is popular because one of Denmark’s most important building is located here. Roskilde Cathedral is the first gothic cathedral in Scandinavia. For more than 800 years, it is part of Denmark history for being one of the earliest major ecclesiastical building that is made of brick. At that time, the art of brick making had just been introduced in the country.

Read: Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde Denmark

The cathedral was built in 1170 and the construction lasted for more than 100 years. It reflects the evolution of Northern European church architecture and it is a mixture of new, old and very old. You can see the changing styles in the chapels, porches, towers, and spires. Most importantly, this cathedral is filled with the treasures of Danish kings and queens. There are 39 Danish kings and queens that are buried in the chapels and sarcophagi. Roskilde Cathedral is also part of UNESCO World Heritage List since 1995.

Don’t forget to include this in your itinerary if ever you are going to Roskilde, Denmark. It is walking distance from Roskilde Train Station. In fact, you will pass this cathedral on your way to the Viking Ship Museum. So after visiting the Viking Ship Museum, we went straight to the Roskilde Cathedral. It is FREE with Copenhagen Card.

Trivia: When we reached the Roskilde Cathedral, we thought it was closed so we just took a picture outside the church then we walked again. Good thing that I saw someone went out at the side door so I was able to see the Entrance Door.

The door is called The King's Door, this is used as an entrance only for royal guests and exit after wedding, confirmation, and funeral. The door has a golden appearance but is made of bronze that has been polished and patinated.

Visiting churches is not exciting if you have kids in tow because most of the time they won’t appreciate it but I’m thankful that the cathedral has a treasure hunt game for kids. So my son joined the “Find the Gold in Roskilde Cathedral” game. He needs to find 10 old treasures and find the code word. He got a postcard prize after completing the treasure hunt in certain minutes. I’m not sure if it is 15 minutes but it is like an amazing race inside the church.

I also learned a lot from his treasure hunt game because there are trivia inside the booklet. There are a lot of treasures but let me share some of it. Here are the 10 Golden Treasures that you can find inside the Roskilde Cathedral.

1. St. Andrew’s Chapel - It is not very old- only 8 years old but there are may golden pieces. The picture is made of 56,000 small squares.

2. Christian 9 (IX) - travel 100 years back in the time of Christian IX. He is the great-great-grandfather of the current Queen Margrethe 2. The coffin is called sarcophagus and it has two golden crowns, a sword and a scepter on top. The three women around the sarcophagus show love, grief and memory.

3. Christian 7 (VII) - was buried in a black coffin in a fine room together with the other kings and queens. He lived 250 years ago. On the coffin is an hourglass to show that time is running. The figure holding the coffin is called Sphinx.

4. Knight Hahn’s Suit of Armour - The suit of armor is 340 years old. On it are the flowers that are gilded, which means that they are made of silver and covered with gold. This is the knight Joachim Hahn’s funeral armor; it was only used for his funeral and has never been used in battle.

5. Christian 4 (IV) - was king over 400 years ago and was at war with the Swedes several times. Once a cannonball hit his ship and he lost the sight on one eye. Christian IV built many buildings including The Round Tower in Copenhagen.

6. The Pulpit - Christian IV ordered a pulpit for the Cathedral. The pulpit is 400 years old and it is made of stone, wood, and plaster, and covered with gold. Here the priest preaches or talks about the Bible.

7. Altarpiece- was made in Belgium almost 500 years ago. The pictures tell the stories of Jesus’ life and death.

8. The Old Clock - with Saint George and the dragon is over 500 years old! Every hour Saint George kills the dragon and the dragon wails.

9. The Sword - on the wall in the Chapel of Magi hangs a sword. This belonged to Christian I, who died 650 years ago. It is said that he was a giant king. His height marked with C! on Column of Kings in the middle of the chapel.

10. Margrete I - about 700 years ago, Margrete I was the queen of both Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Her funeral lasted for 3 days.

Note: Closed during the church ceremony

Confirmation in Norway

I was surprised when I learned that Norway doesn’t celebrate Mother’s Day in the month of May, they celebrate it every second Sunday of February. I don’t know why but I guess, it is because they have so many holidays during the month of May such as Labor Day, 17th of May, Pentecost and of course there is also Confirmation.

Read: 17th of May Celebration in Norway

Confirmation is a significant event in Norway, it marks the transition from childhood to adulthood. During 1736 to 1912, it is in Norway’s law to have Confirmation in order to gain the “rights of adulthood”. Without it, you cannot enter the military service, you cannot marry, you cannot be a godparent, or even testify in court. But now, this Christian ceremony has become a symbol since not all Norwegians are religious so they have their own ways to celebrate it.

So if your child will hit 15 years old, you will be busy preparing for their Confirmation. It is not just a simple preparation because you need one year to prepare for this starting with your registration at the church, reserving a venue, booking a catering, and preparing for Norwegian traditional costume which is called “Bunad”.

It is a special occasion and a very intimate event so you will feel honor if you got invited. Most of the guests are families and close friends. A decade ago, my sister had her Confirmation but unfortunately, we were not able to attend it. So I was glad that I was able to experience a Confirmation event during our summer vacation in Norway, not just one but two Confirmation.

I did not celebrate Mother’s Day in Norway but I attended a Confirmation. We did not attend the church ceremony because I told my mom that we would not understand the mass so we just went to the reception. It was a formal event too, I’ve seen other people wearing their bunad and suit.

Confirmation in Norway is a simple event, hindi siya katulad ng debut sa Pilipinas na maraming program. They only have welcome remarks, speech from parents, special video or presentation and you will eat dinner and cakes. When I say cakes, I mean a lot of cakes and I was not able to taste everything. It was a feast in the eye and taste buds so you have to forget your diet.

When it comes to gifts, they give money or jewelry and I was also surprised because, after dinner, they are opening the cards and listing the amount of money that they have received. So nakakahiya din pala pag maliit lang binigay mo, makikita ng ibang guests kasi nasa gift table lang siya. Hehehe!

Anyway, sharing some photos when I attended a girl and boy Norwegian Confirmation.
