Day 6 in Sydney Australia: Taronga Zoo and Sydney Harbour Hopper Cruise

I am done with my Animal Layered Craft so let me continue my Sydney, Australia series. For our sixth day, we went to Taronga Zoo via Fantasea Cruising Sydney. There are three zoos that you can visit in Sydney, you can go to Sydney Zoo, Featherdale Sydney Wildlife, and Taronga Zoo. I chose the latter because it is the most booked zoo in Klook and an opportunity for us to ride a ferry.

You can purchase tickets only but I chose the combo voucher; Taronga Zoo with 1 Day Sydney Harbour Hopper Pass so I don’t need to buy separate tickets for Ferry.

Taronga Zoo and Sydney Harbour Ferry Ticket

Admission to Taronga Zoo
Admission to 1 Day Sydney Harbour Hopper Pass
English-speaking staff
1-Day Access to Manly – Watsons Bay Ferry
Round-trip ferry transfers

Taronga Zoo is not for profit. It is a government-run public zoo and the money you spend supports the future of wildlife. It is located on Bradleys Head Road in Mosman and the right side of Sydney Harbour. You can reach the zoo via ferry, bus, and private car.

We can collect the ticket at Darling Harbour, Pier 26, or Circular Quay. We chose the latter so from Hyde Park Inn, we walked to Museum Train Station to ride the train to Circular Quay. Then we walked to Wharf 6 and looked for the Fantasea Cruising Booth. I just presented our voucher and the staff gave us tickets and Sydney Harbour Hopper Timetable.

The zoo opens at 9:30AM and the first boat trip is 9:04AM. The ferry trip is about 15 minutes and from there we walked to the Taronga Zoo South entrance (3 minutes). You can get a map or download the Taronga App so you can plan your tour.

Taronga is an Aboriginal word meaning “beautiful view” and true to its word, you have a stunning view of Sydney Harbour while in the zoo. This zoo is over 100 years old, it started operating on October 7, 1916. It is so big tapos, up and down pa so nakakapagod talaga.

Since the ticket is not cheap we really took our time exploring the zoo. We also watched Giraffe Keeper Talk, Free Flight Birds, Dingo Keeper Talk, and Seals for the Wild

There are 3 restaurants inside the zoo; Saltwater Bistro, Forage & Graze Cafe, and Taronga Food Market. We ate at Taronga Food Market but I can’t remember what we ordered, ito lang yung photo na nasa phone ko. I don’t know kung chicken or fish + chips ba yan and anong burger. Hehehe!

Taronga Zoo Admission Fee

Adult - $47.70
Child (4-15) - $27.90
Concession - $36.90
Infant (0-3) - Free

Note: Taronga Zoo Sydney is now cashless, with contactless payments accepted when purchasing General Admission Zoo tickets and across our retail, food, and beverage outlets.

Taronga Zoo Opening Hours

Winter - 9.30am to 4.30pm
Summer - 9:30am to 5:00pm

Sydney Harbour Hopper Cruise

After watching the Seals for the Wild, we immediately walk to the wharf so we can catch the 14:46 ferry and start our Sydney Harbour Cruise. We could explore Watsons Bay and Manly Wharf but we were so tired already and we didn’t want to walk na so we just stayed on the boat and enjoyed the cruise. Naka 23,745 steps lang naman ako ng Day 6.

There is complimentary self-service tea and coffee onboard. Soda in can is 3AUD but they don’t accept cash payment.

This was our last day to enjoy Sydney so when we arrived at Circular Quay, we explored the area again, ate gelato, and shop some souvenirs.

It was funny because we were in Sydney for 6 days pero wala kami evening photos kasi lagi kami umuuwi before dinner and nasa hotel na kami bago pa maggabi. Yung body clock kasi namin, pang Philippines pa rin.

Day 3 in Stockholm Sweden

With all that is happening in the world, I really don’t know when we can fly again. Two years ago, I distinctly remember that I was itching to travel. I wanted to travel on my birthday, school sembreak, and Christmas break but it did not happen. If only I knew that COVID19 will happen, I would definitely push my travel plans in year 2019.

“Don’t say “there’s still time or maybe next time” because there’s also a concept of it’s too late”

Sadly, no matter how I wish, I can never turn back time but I can relive those moments. So finally, I will update my Scandinavian series. More than two years had passed already but I am thankful for this travel experience because I have something to look back. We were in Stockholm for 5 days and 4 nights so now let me share with you our Day 3 in Stockholm Sweden itinerary.

Day 3 in Stockholm Sweden

Like I’ve said before, I don’t have a prepared itinerary for our trip so we just planned before we hit the sack. This is a sample itinerary on the Stockholm Pass flyer and we planned to do this for our third day.

Hop on-Hop Offf Bus and Boat SEK520
Skansen SEK195
Vasa Museum SEK150
Prince Eugen’s Waldermarsudde SEK150

When we were in Europe, we always check the weather so during our trip the temperature was around -3 to 9 degrees Celsius so it was really cold. The start of the Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus is 10AM so we left the hotel around 8:30AM so we have enough time to eat our breakfast at the Central train station.

Breakfast at McDonalds

For our breakfast we just ordered the 4 McMuffin Bacon & Egg combo, it includes sandwich and hot and cold drinks, the total is SEK180.

After our light breakfast, we went straight to Bus Stop 21 which is just outside the Central Station. We made sure that we were there before 10AM. There are tour buses passing by like the Stockholm Red Bus Sightseeing Hop-On-Hop-Off Tour but we did not see any Hop-On-Hop-Off bus for the Stockholm Pass. The bus stop started to get crowded and after one hour of waiting, we started to get impatient. According to other tour bus drivers, they did not see any Worldwide Citysightseeing bus.

I don’t know what happened but we were so disappointed. We paid for it but we were not able to use it. We don’t want to wait any longer because time is running out so we just took a taxi to Vasa Museum. We know how expensive taxis are in Europe but we had no choice.

Vasa Museum Admission Fee

Adults: SEK 170
Young visitors: 0-18 years free of charge

This is part of our card pass so we did not pay any entrance fee. If Denmark has Viking Ship Museum, then Sweden has Vasa Museum; the latter is also one of the most visited museums in Scandinavia. Vasa is the name of the ship that has the shortest voyage in history. On August 10, 1628, Vasa set sail and sank in Stockholm harbor after sailing for 1,300 meters. Thousands of people witness how the ship sank 32 meters below.

The supposed to be a powerful warship in the Baltic that was built by hundreds of craftsmen became a grave. It was a tragic incident because only 30 crews and guests survived and most of the people were trapped in the ship. After 333 years, the shipwreck was salvaged, reconstructed, and preserved. What you can see in the Vasa Museum is 98 percent original. The museum has 5 levels so it took us more or less 2 hours to explore. You can join a guided tour for 25 minutes and watch the film for 17 minutes.

Skansen Museum

After our Vasa Museum tour, we went straight to Skansen Museum, it was a long walk but we made it even we are already h-angry. Again, this is part of our pass so we just show our card to enter.

Skansen Museum Admission Fee

Child 4-15 yr: SEK70
Adult: SEK220
Student/Senior/Group: SEK200

Skansen is founded in 1891 by Artur Hazelius, it is the oldest open-air museum in the world which showcases the buildings, farmsteads, gardens, and animals of Sweden. Skansen covers an area of about 300,000sqm so it is much bigger compared to Glomdal Museum in Elverum Norway. If you have kids in tow, it is a must to add this to your itinerary. I think you need a whole day to maximize your stay because they have a lot of activities. Don’t forget to get a map and a schedule of activities.

The museum is open from 10AM to 4PM and some establishments closed as early as 3PM so we had very limited time to explore the place. So we are happy that we were able to visit the Skansen Aquarium, Children’s Zoo, Baltic Sea Science Center, and 19th-century town. There is a close and open-air zoo where you can see Nordic animals and domestic animals. We were able to see European bison, brown bear, moose, reindeer, and other Scandinavian animals.

We had our late lunch at Skansen Restaurant and we enjoyed the food here. We ordered pasta, waffle, ice cream, and of course Swedish meatballs.

When we heard that the museum is about to close, we started walking to the exit where Bus stop 12 is located. We failed to visit Prince Eugen’s Waldermarsudde because it is already late and we were tired already. And because of what happened in the morning, we had no idea if there will be a bus in the afternoon but we were hoping na meron. We overheard other passengers, according to them, the bus will arrive so naniwala naman kami kaya nakihintay din kami. We are thankful na may dumating and we did not take taxi anymore.

3 Days Trip in Davao

Davao is the first province that I’ve visited in Mindanao so I was a little bit excited when we went there. It’s been a decade already since the last time I’ve been there and it is one of the places that I wanted to revisit because I know that there are more tourist spots that I haven’t seen and experienced.

A few months ago, my husband mentioned to me that he will have a business trip in Davao so I was a little bit excited because I have the opportunity to go back but when April came, his Davao trip was moved to another date. Then May came, Martial law was implemented so Davao trip was totally canceled.

Well, I hope the Marawi issue will be resolved soon and I’m praying for peace. Aside from Davao, there are more places that I wanted to visit in Mindanao. But for now, let me just reminisce about our 3 days trip to Davao.

3 Days Trip in Davao

We’re supposed to book Kalibo but there are no more seat sales, so we tried Tagbilaran and again no more seat sale. We were losing hope already then the CS rep informed us that they still have promo fare for Davao so we booked.

Honestly, we have no idea about Davao and I’ve never been to Mindanao so I just search and search for possible tourist destinations. At that time, I don’t have an itinerary; I just take note of the places that we can go to before going to Pearl Farm Resort.

Fast forward to our trip, it was raining in Laguna when we left and I was praying hard that there will be no cancellation of flight because it is not easy to schedule a vacation leave. Thank God that Davao’s weather was fine so we will be able to do our itinerary for that day.

We took a taxi to get to Casa Leticia, which will be our accommodation for that day. I already booked our room a month before our trip but unfortunately, it was not recorded at their end even though I showed them the confirmation that I got from their site.

Good thing that there is still an extra room, we have no choice but to stay in one room. And because of that experience, I always inquire and reserve accommodation through email unless they informed me to book online.

After fixing our things we went outside to eat our lunch, there is a grilled restaurant, 100 meters away from the hotel. Price is affordable, almost P100 for a complete meal.

Philippine Eagle Center

After our lunch, we asked the receptionist how we can go to Philippine Eagle Center. I did not expect that the travel time will be long; we only took a jeep and habal-habal to get there. Fare in habal-habal is P100 per person, roundtrip.

Aside from eagles, there are more animals that you can see there. We were lucky that there was monkey feeding at that time so we were able to witness it. Ang galing lang nila magbalat ng fruits. The travel may be long but it was all worth it because I was able to meet the Phillipine Eagle.

Pearl Farm Resort

My friend suggested to spend a night in Pearl Farm but I told her it’s too expensive, P9,000 (P4,500 per pax) for one night but she really insisted that I include this so I gave in.  The rate is quite pricey but it is all worth it because of the superb service, food and place. The package includes the roundtrip boat transfer, 3 buffet meals and complimentary use of facilities and amenities. The trip is really memorable for all of us and I am still looking forward to go back.

On our second day, we woke up early because we need to be at the Pearl Farm Marina before 8AM. We just took a cab to reach the port. Port pa lang naexcite na kami, why not? Pearl Farm is a luxury resort in Davao so for sure we will have a great stay.

We planned to stay in 2 rooms para tipid but we were informed that the room is only good for two persons and even if there is an extra person, the fee is still the same. Well, okay na rin at least my husband and I will have privacy. Chos! We stayed in Samal House and I like our seaview, we can feed fish just outside our room.

The following morning, we went to Malipano Island, one boat ride from Pearl Farm Resort. It is part of the resort.

Davao Crocodile Park

As much as we want to extend our stay in Pearl Farm Resort, we have to leave because it was our last day in Davao but since our flight is still in the evening, we still have time for the city tour. Good thing that there was an FX driver at Pearl Farm Marina who offered his service to tour us around for P1200. So we took advantage of the offer because it is more convenient for us since taxi could not accommodate 6 persons.

We visited some luxury hotel to see the T’boli Weaving Center but it was closed. Next stop is Souvenir shops and market. We bought some pasalubong but not durian.

Then Davao Crocodile Park, we’re just in time for some exhibition but I don’t have any pictures of it. We stayed for a few hours and then we went straight to Davao International Airport. It was a short trip, that’s why I wanted to go back. Given a chance, I will visit Samal Island, Eden Nature Park, Hagimit Falls. If you like durian candy, buy Lola Abon’s brand and don’t forget to buy suha.

This is the last trip that I traveled with friends, ang hirap na kasi magtagpo ng schedule namin. I have my own family na rin so iba na trip pag may anak na kasama. But I miss those times that I can travel with friends.

2 Days in Singapore

Time flies so fast, a few days from now, we’ll be celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary and 10 years ago we celebrated our first wedding anniversary in Singapore. It was a last minute decision. I booked this flight almost two months before our travel trip.

I have to change status and renew my passport because my passport is still under my single name. Good thing I was able to renew my passport and got my passport, two weeks before our trip. This was not my first time to go out of the country but I was still excited because this was the first out of the country together with my hubby.

Day 1 Manila to Singapore

There is no time difference between Singapore and Manila. I brought USD and good thing there’s money changer inside the airport. It was past 12AM already so we took a cab to get to our hotel, I already forgot the name. lol! The taxi fare is around 32 SGD, which is very expensive for my budget.

Due to limited time, I did not do any research and I just booked a hotel without considering the location. I did not know that it is located in Little India, it is athree-starr hotel so I did not expect so much. All we need is a decent room with private bathroom since we will be out the whole day.

After check-in, we immediately took a nap before we start our Singapore tour. Because of the flight schedule, we only have two whole days to enjoy SG.

Day 1 Evening flight to Singapore

Day 2 Singapore City Tour, Singapore Zoo + Night Safari
Day 3 Orchard Road + Sentosa
Day 4 Early morning flight to Manila

Day 2 Singapore City Tour, Singapore Zoo + Night Safari

After eating our complimentary breakfast we went out to look for travel and tours agency. There were tour packages posted in our hotel but we still went out and look for other options. I did not have any itinerary so I really had no idea how to get to the tourist spots. After spending 32SGD for just one taxi ride, we thought that it is cheaper to avail tour packages.

Singapore City Tour

Four our first package, we availed Half Day Singapore City Tour. We visited Esplanade Theater, Merlion, Chinatown, Botanic Garden, Souvenir Shops and Little India.  It was a quick trip to each attraction.

After the city tour, we immediately look for a restaurant where we could eat our lunch because our next itinerary is Singapore Zoo at 1PM.

Singapore Zoo + Night Safari

Singapore Zoo is one of the must-see in Singapore, there are several shows and attractions available in the zoo. There is also feeding time which you can participate for a fee. It is very different compared to other zoos that we have visited because they have “open concept”. How I wish we have this kind of zoo in the country.

Singapore Zoo is so big and since we were on a group tour we were not able to explore the whole zoo. Of course, we need to follow the tour guide.

After SG Zoo, we immediately fell in line at Night Safari even the gate was not yet open. We took an early dinner while waiting so we can ride the first tram. I also booked this tour to see the nocturnal animals. You can explore the park via walking trails or tram. Of course, we choose the tram because we no longer have the energy to walk.

There are shows but we only watched the Creatures of the Night Show which we also enjoyed. We bought Ben & Jerry’s ice cream before leaving.

Day 3 Orchard Road + Sentosa Tour

Yesterday trip was really tiring hence we decided not to book any morning tour so we could sleep and rest. Since we have no itinerary after breakfast, we decided to explore SG by commuting. We want to experience the MRT of Singapore.

Most of the shopping malls were closed because it’s Chinese New Year so we really have nothing to do except to walk and take pictures.

Sentosa Tour

After lunch, we checked out early and left our luggage in the reception area. Then off we went to Sentosa Island. I just booked Sentosa Tour Package and I have no idea that we will ride a cable car. From Mount Faber, we need to ride the cable car to get to Sentosa Island. This was our first time to ride in cable car so I was a little bit excited but really scared. I’m afraid of heights so I really tried my best not to look down. It was a very long ride for me and I was glad I survived.

Itinerary for the day: Mount Faber, Underwater World (closed), Images of Singapore and Musical Fountain.

Images of Singapore is a museum where we spend most of our time, we’re so busy taking pictures and we had no idea that our group members were already waiting for us. We’re the second to the last group na lumabas. Kahiya! Cause of delay pa. That is really the downside of availing group tour you can’t manage your own time.

Underwater World is their version of Ocean Park; it was small compared to our very own Manila Ocean Park

We missed the Musical fountain because we need to leave early so we would not miss our flight. We left Sentosa and went back to our hotel to get our luggage. We took a taxi on our way to the airport to catch out evening flight. That was really a short trip so I promised myself that we will go back to Singapore. Check below our trip last 2014 and 2016.

Glimpse of Yangon Myanmar

Myanmar is not on our bucket list so we really have no idea about this country. A few weeks ago, my husband told me that he might go to Myanmar and he asked me, ano bang meron don? Hehehe!

Honestly, the only thing I know about Myanmar is the famous Hot Air Balloon in Bagan. But my husband is going to Yangon, Myanmar so I searched for this place and I said, parang puro temples don.

There is no direct flight from the Philippines. He checked the different options and Thai Airways has a nice flight schedule. Manila to Bangkok to Yangon, Myanmar. It was a long flight including the layover.

If you’ve been a regular reader of this blog, you know for sure that my husband doesn’t like taking pictures. So even if he’s been to different places, there are no souvenir photos. The last time I blogged about his trip was four years ago, ang tagal na nung Shanghai so now I will share some photos about his recent trip. There is a miracle, he took some photos so we can see Myanmar.

Hotel in Myanmar: Taw Win Garden Hotel

My husband stayed in Taw Win Garden Hotel which is 30 minutes away from Yangon International Airport and 10 minutes away from the city center and Shwedagon Pagoda

Taw Win Garden Hotel is a 4-star hotel that offers gymnasium, sauna, indoor jacuzzi, salon services, spa treatment and salon services. There are four restaurants in the hotel; Thiri restaurant, Su Chinese restaurant, K Khine Restaurant and Lobby Bar, and Lounge.

This is the room.

There is free wifi but the connection is very unstable hindi man lang kami makapagvideo call. When my husband was out, he could not have a good phone connection too.

Shwedagon Pagoda

Since this is a business trip, my husband has really no time to explore the tourist spots so after 4 years, now lang ulit siya natour. After work, his officemate brought him at Shwedagon Pagoda which is few minutes from his hotel.

You need to remember to dress conservatively when you visit pagodas, temples, and monasteries. In addition, you need to remove socks and shoes when entering religious buildings, restaurants, or even entering someone’s home.

From the parking lot, my husband was surprised because they would walk barefooted. So they left their shoes in the car and walked to Shwedagon Pagoda. This is also known as Golden Pagoda, a famous and most sacred site in Yangon.

It is 326 ft tall and made of bricks but covered with gold and the crown has gems. My husband informed me that people all over the country, rich or poor donate gold and gems to maintain the pagoda. According to his officemate, mas maganda daw sa gabi kasi may light which I’ve seen on the internet.

Entrance Fee: 8000 kyat

Salient points to be observed by the pilgrims/visitors

1. Must not wear ladies blouse with wide or deep hives.

2. Must not wear above knee short pants and skirts.
3. Must not wear shoes.
4. Must not wear socks and stockings.

White Elephant Garden

Then they went to the White Asian Elephants. It is not the usual elephant that we see in the zoo. It is an albino elephant but mukha siyang pink elephant sa kin. Hehehe! There are three elephants here but at that time, hubby only saw two elephants.

Some people said that this white elephant is a symbol of royal prosperity, and power and brings good luck to the country. The elephant looks like a statue maybe because they have chained in their paw so very limited movement lang.

Well, that’s it! I hope my husband will take photos again on his next trip. Hehehe!

The currency is Burmese Kyat
