Day 3 in Da Nang Vietnam: Sun World Ba Na Hills Tour

I am busy crafting and planning an itinerary for my husband’s trip so I have limited time to blog. But I am taking a break so I can continue my Vietnam series.

If our second day was chill, our third day was another busy day because we had an event from morning until evening.

Buffet Breakfast at Table 88

We woke up early for our buffet breakfast, 6:30AM pa lang nasa Table 88 na kami so we had enough time to eat before our tour.

Sun World Ba Na Hills Tour

Just like our Hoi An Tour, we just joined a group tour; Ba Na Hills Tour for $70 per person. The rate is similar to Klook Ba Na Hills and Golden Bridge Day Tour from Da Nang

Ba Na Hills Tour- $70 per pax
(Included guide, transportation, lunch, entrance fee, tips)

- Golden Bridge
- International buffet lunch
- Flower Garden
- Fantasy Park
- French Village
- Wine Cellar

We were a big group divided into two, one bus and one van. For Team Philippines, we were a group of 12 so we all went to the van and left early. Travel time from Sheraton Grand Da Nang Resort to Ba Na Hills is about 45 minutes. We arrived at 9:15AM but according to our tour guide, we needed to wait for the bus before we could start our tour. So we spent our time taking pictures at the Time Gate.

Time Gate

According to the flyer, Impressively designed with a moon and sun clock, the Time Gate is a skillful and subtle combination of sound with the art of performing light and water, creating a magical symbol that opens the door of time, allowing you to cross the spatial line and enter the surreal world of the Land of Giants.

We were done taking pictures but the bus was still not there. Waiting was fine at first but we waited for more than an hour. I don’t understand why they were so late when 8:30AM is the call time.

Sun World Ba Na Hills

Finally, at 10:30AM we started our tour and after walking for few minutes, pinahinto kami ng lead tour guide, just to give our tickets. Grr… Ang tagal naming naghintay doon sa nagCR, sana kanina pa siya nagdistribute ng tickets. Ang daming nasayang na oras.

On our way to the cable car, it started to rain so mas nainis ako kasi kung maaga lang sana kami nag-umpisa, okay pa ang weather, sana may picture pa kami sa taas ng Sun World Amusement Park na walang fog at rain. Anyway, kaysa masira araw ko, I have to change my perspective. Despite the undesirable situations and non-stop rain showers, at least natuloy pa rin ang trip namin.

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. - Anthony J. D’Angelo

To be honest, I was surprised when I saw Sun World Ba Na Hills and nasabi ko na lang sa sarili, bakit wala kaya ganito sa Pilipinas. How I wish we also had this kind of amusement park, hindi lang Enchanted Kingdom.

Sun World Ba Na Hills is located on top of the hill with a height of 1,487 meters from sea level and because of that, this place is also called “heaven on earth”. This is one of the top tourist resorts in Vietnam.

World Record-Breaking Cable Car System

Their cable car is one of the world’s longest and highest cable car rides. It has 6 cable car routes and can accommodate 10,000 passengers per hour. Open from 8AM to 5PM.

Golden Bridge

We arrived at the Golden Bridge around 11AM. The Golden Bridge was opened in June 2018 and was part of the "Top 10 best destinations in the world in 2018” by TIME magazine. It is located at an altitude of 1,414 meters above sea level. It has the shape of a silk strip floating in the sky and held by the hands of the giant.

Heaven Garden

The garden keeps the marks of the Giants with the legs, hands, or even faces of the giants sleeping in peace between mountains and flowers.

Le Jardin D’Amour

9 gardens with 9 different emotions, according to legend, Le Jardin D’Amour is a place to witness the dating and marriage of the giants.

Debay Wine Cellar

A unique cellar was built by the French in 1923. The wine cellar extends 100 meters deep underground.

French Village

Travel back in time and experience the architectural attractions of the French Village.

Buffet Lunch at Arapang

We had a late lunch at Arapang Restaurant. It was around 12:30NN so the restaurant was full and it was hard to look for a vacant table. I don’t have photos of the buffet spread, but they serve international dishes. We had one hour to enjoy our buffet lunch.

The meal is part of our tour package but the rate during our visit is 300,000VND. Open from 10:30 - 3PM with 2,200 seating capacity.

Fantasy Park

Since it was raining, we just spent our time at Fantasy Park. It is an indoor entertainment with rides including a Free-fall Tower, Airborn Shot, and 3D-4D-5D Cinemas.

The tour ends around 3PM, fortunately after the cable car ride, hindi na kami naghintay sa bus passengers. Nauna ulit ang Team Philippines, pabalik sa hotel. We were in a hurry because we had dinner buffet at 6PM.

International Dinner Buffet at Table 88

The dinner starts at 6PM but we arrived at 6:30PM pero one of the early birds pa rin. I already shared our experience on this blog

Buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so kahit pagod, laban lang para sa food. Hehehe!

Day 2 in Copenhagen

Even though I prepared an itinerary for our Copenhagen trip, we were not able to follow it day by day. But we have no regrets because we were able to visit a lot of tourist spots in Copenhagen. Our second day is the most tiring one, we started our tour in the Viking Ship Museum and we ended our day at Tivoli Gardens.

Day 2 in Copenhagen

First thing on our list is The Viking Ship Museum, it is located at Roskilde, Denmark so we left Urban House before 9AM to make sure that we will arrive at the Viking Ship Museum before the opening which is 10 in the morning. Good thing that we left early because we just walked from Roskilde Train Station up to The Viking Ship Museum, about 2 km walk.

1. The Viking Ship Museum

The Viking Ship Museum was opened in 1969, it is where you can see the five original Viking ships that were excavated in 1962. Aside from the boat collection, you can also watch short videos, read about Viking history, dress like a Viking, and if you visit during summer, you can ride the Nordic boat and participate in some workshops. We missed the boat ride and workshops because we visited in the month of April.

2. Roskilde Town Hall

On our way to the Viking Ship Museum, we saw this Roskilde Town Hall. It is the old city hall that was designed by architect O. Momme and was built in 1884. After the town hall, you will pass a long pedestrian street where restaurants, cafes, and shops are located.

3. Roskilde Cathedral

Do not leave Roskilde without visiting Roskilde Cathedral, this cathedral is part of UNESCO World Heritage List since 1995. It is not just a cathedral, it is where the 39 Danish kings and queens were buried. You will pass this cathedral if you are walking to The Viking Ship Museum. If you have kids in tow, don’t worry because there is a treasure hunt activity that they can join.

4. Roskilde Palace or Royal Mansion (Yellow Palace)

Beside the Roskilde Cathedral is the four-wing yellow baroque building called Roskilde Palace. It used to be the residence of the royal family whenever they attend royal funerals at Roskilde Cathedral. Now, it is used for exhibitions, concerts, and other cultural events. We just took a picture outside and then we had our lunch at Algade Pizzaria.

After our lunch, we’re supposed to visit National Aquarium Denmark, Den Blå Planet because my son loves aquarium but I changed our itinerary to Canal Tours Copenhagen because I want to see Nyhavn. Feeling ko hindi ko nakapunta sa Denmark kung hindi ko nakita ito.

5. Canal Tours Copenhagen

From Roskilde train station, we traveled back to Copenhagen Train Station and from there, we just walked until we reached the Ved Stranden. It is where we can ride the Canal Tours using our Copenhagen Card.

It is just a one-hour guided tour and you can already see different tourist spots. It is the best option if you are pressed of time because you can see several popular attractions from afar like Christianborg Palace, Nyhavn, The Copenhagen Opera House. The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace, Church of Our Savior and many more.

6. Strøget Shopping Street

After our Canal Tour, we went to Strøget, it is one of the longest shopping streets in Europe. It is about 1 km long that covers the streets in Kongens Nytorv Square (King's New Square) up to City Hall Square. It covers Frederiksberggade, Gammel Torv / Nytorv (Old Market), Nygade, Vimmelskaftet, Fiolstræde Jorcks Passage, Købmagergade (connects to Nørreport Station via Kultorvet), Amagertorv and Østergade.

Thanks to Alfred Wassard because he was the one who initiated to have a pedestrian zone. It started on Nov. 17, 1962, when he was a mayor. He is the Father of car-free Strøget.  Strøget Shopping Street is a combination of expensive brands and budget-friendly shops.

We did not shop because we wanted to visit Guinness World of Records and Mystic Exploratorie. Aside from the shops, there are also restaurants and cafes where you can satisfy your food cravings. We ate waffle and churros at Gelato Rajissimo.

7. Guinness World of Records Museum

My son wanted to visit this attraction after reading a flyer. It is included in our Copenhagen Card so we added this to our itinerary. This is the only Guinness World of Records Museum in Europe where you can see world records from all over the world like the fastest, strongest, tallest and many more. There are also some displays, trivia, galleries and interactive games.

8. Mystic Exploratorie

Beside the Guinness World of Records Museum is Mystic Exploratorie. It is a hands-on experience house putting all your senses to the test. It was a small museum so it is better to buy a combination ticket to save money. If you are brave enough, you can sit on the electric chair.

9. Tivoli Gardens

Finally, our last attraction is the Tivoli Gardens. the second oldest theme park in the world. It is already 175 years old. This theme park served as an inspiration to Walt Disney, that’s why we have Disneyland. Do not compare this to Disneyland because it is small but it has its own charm. It is not open all year round so better visit their website for the schedule.

I can’t believe that we visited 9 tourist spots in one day. When I checked my activity in my health app, I walked 17.8 km, took 24,578 steps and climbed 12 floors. I’m glad that we made it and I’m so proud of my son kasi kinaya din niya maglakad ng ganito.

Glimpse of Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen Denmark

Do you know that the 2 oldest theme parks in the world are located in Denmark? Yes, before Disneyland and Universal Studio, there are Dyrehavsbakken and Tivoli. Tivoli is the second oldest theme park in the world and the most visited theme park in Scandinavia.

Georg Carstensen was the founder “Tivoli will never, so to speak, be finished”. It opened on August 15, 1843, so next month, it is already 176 years old. This is where Hans Christian Andersen got his inspiration when he wrote the Nightingale fairy tale and where Walt Disney got his inspiration when he created Disneyland.

Tivoli Gardens is the famous amusement park and garden in Copenhagen, Denmark so it is a must to visit this international tourist attraction especially if you have kids in tow. This is just a few minutes walk from our hostel, City Hall and Copenhagen Central Station so commuting is not a problem.

Day 1 in Copenhagen

We’re supposed to visit this on our Day 1 in Copenhagen but after we checked-in, nobody wants to go out anymore so our Day 2 in Copenhagen was so packed, we visited 9 tourists spots in one day. Tivoli Garden is our last attraction for that day since it is open until 11PM or 12AM.

We arrived around 6PM so we only have a few hours left before the closing time. The staff informed us that we can only enter once using our Copenhagen Card, so parang sinisigurado niya kami kung papasok ba kami or ibang araw na lang. I’m okayed with it since we already promised our son that we will visit Tivoli and we know that Tivoli is not that big.

This theme park is only 20 acres. Although Tivoli is just small compared to other theme parks, it has its own charm that visitors will enjoy. The scenery of Tivoli Gardens is beautiful especially at night, too bad that we did not witness the colored lights because we went home early. During our visit, it was springtime so the sun sets around 9PM or 10PM.

Tivoli offers 28 rides for adult and children including the famous Rutschebanen. It is the wooden roller coaster that was built in 1914 so it is one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the world. Since we only use our Copenhagen Card, we need to pay for our ride. You can pay per ride or avail the unlimited ride ticket. The entrance ticket varies depending on the season. Tivoli is open during summer, Halloween, Christmas and winter season.

Tivoli Garden Admission Price

110.00 DKK - 120.00 DKK - Adult (8+)
50.00 DKK - Child (3-7)
Free Entrance - Copenhagen Card

Ride Tickets

30DKK - per ride (1yr+)
230DKK - unlimited ride (1yr +)
290DKK - unlimited ride ticket plus (132cm above)
460DKK - unlimited ride companion ticket for children 1-7 years old

Annual Cards

350DKK - annual card (8yrs +)
900DKK Wild Card (8yrs +)
700DKK - Silver Card
1250DKK - Gold Card

Surprisingly, my son was not in the mood to try any rides in Tivoli. I don’t know why? Akala ko pa naman gusto niya magrides kaya gusto niya magTivoli. Anyway, we saved money because of that because he just played in the playground.

Aside from the amusement rides, visitors can also enjoy different activities like concerts, pantomime, ballet shows, parades, light show, fireworks and many more. We watched the Pantomime show at The Peacock Theater. The theater was built in 1874 so it is the oldest building in the Tivoli Gardens.

Food and drinks are not a problem because they have several restaurants, cafe, ice cream and candy shops inside the theme park.

There are also shops where you can buy gifts, accessories, and souvenirs. We did not stay that long because we’re freezing cold already so we just finished the Pantomime show and off we went back to Urban House to rest.

19 Activities in One Day at Kidzania Manila

Update: I've read from CNN Philippines article last July 22 that Kidzanila Manila is closing down by end of August 31, 2020 after months of shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The school year 2018-2019 is officially over so we went back to Kidzania Manila. My son got Gold Eagle Award this school year so we gave him a reward for his achievement. Hindi naman mahirap ang gusto niya, it is either one week use of gadget or Kidzania Manila lang naman pinipili niya.

He just went to Kidzania Manila last month because it is part of their School Field Trip but this is his happy place so go lang habang gusto niya. My husband even told him that he is already too old for Kidzania but he said, hanggang year 2025 pa daw siya pwede. Hehehe! Our first visit was year 2016 and this is already our 6th time in Kidzania Manila and one time in Kidzania Bangkok.

16 Activities in One Day at Kidzania Manila
12 Activities in One Day at Kidzania Manila
15 Activities in One Day at Kidzania Manila
14 Activities in One Day at Kidzania Manila

I took advantage of the FREE Adult for every 1 Child Ticket Promo so I only paid P900 during our visit. There are few changes na rin, before they will give your bracelet, boarding pass and 50 Kidzos check but this time I was surprised because they asked us if we already have an ATM. We said yes and the staff gave us 30 Kidzos only and advised us to go to Immigration Office to top up the additional 20 Kidzos.

For your information, starting May 1, 2019 they will use the ATM to add or deduct the Kidzos every activity, sort of Payroll account. Kidzos will earn 1% interest too. If you don’t have ATM yet, they will give you ATM card + 30 Kidzos but you need to activate the ATM first at the bank. Good thing we have the ATM already so we’re able to start early. It was weekday, may pasok pa siguro yung iba so ang konti lang ng tao and this time, my son was able to do 19 Activities in One Day, same experience sa Kidzania Bangkok.

19 Activities in One Day at Kidzania Manila

1. Fireman
2. Dentist
3. Bakeshop
4. Ice Cream Factory
5. Bottling Plant
6. Snack Factory
7. Climbing Building
8. BS Humanities and the Arts
9. Driving
10. Magazine Publishing Company
11. BS Health Science
12. Operating Room in the Hospital
13. Electrical Works
14. Newspaper
15. BS Business Administration
16. Tax Office
17. Hotel
18. LBC
19. Bookstore

Although this is already our 6th time in Kidzania Manila, there are still jobs that my son hasn’t tried because he doesn’t like to sing, dance, or act. He is not fond of music or sports too so hindi niya pinupuntahan yun. So ending, inuulit niya lang mga favorite niya like Fireman and Driving. He will go to factory activities for free foods and drinks like Goldilocks, Coca-Cola and Jack and Jill.

When he visited the factory, he earned an additional 2 Kidzos aside from the 4 Kidzos (Pazzport) and Salary. He took Engineering and Architecture Course at CEU last year and because of that degree, may additional Kidzos pala if he works at Bottling Plant, Car Design & Dealership, Clean Energy Center, Construction House, Cookie Factory, Home Finishing, Ice Cream Factory, Product Lab, R&D Center and Snack Factory.

+ 2 Kidzos if you have a degree
+ 2, 4 0r 6 Kidzos if you have Pazzport

When my son learned about the additional Kidzos, he attended the remaining 3 courses such as Health Sciences, Business Administration and Humanities and the Arts. You need to pass the exam to get a degree. There is a 100% sticker din sa card mo if you got a perfect score. He finished all the courses so all the jobs or activities that he will join, he will earn more Kidzos.

I told my son to go to Dentist because they were giving away FREE mouthwash so off we went to the Dental Clinic, and he got a free oral dental kit pa.

He tried the “Climbing Building” pero again, hindi na naman niya natapos hanggang dulo, give up agad siya. Sayang!

He wanted to go back to Driving but I told him, kung paulit-ulit lang siya sa mga activities. Last na namin punta yun. There are still jobs that he needs to try like in the hospital so he has no choice but to fall in line at the Operating Room in the Hospital. And he enjoyed it, ikaw na ang mag-operate ng Liver Transplant. I hope next time, he will try the Emergency Room and Baby Care Activity.

He also worked at the Magazine Publishing Company and Newspaper, you will get a print-out copy of the comics or story that you will create.

For the last activity, he worked as Electrician, computed tax at the Tax Office, prepared buffet spreads and tables at the Hotel, pick-up packages at LBC and wrote stories at the Bookstore.

And before we left, my son upgraded his passport to Honorable Citizen. We always forgot to count his stamps, good thing the staff informed him that he could upgrade na. Last time we got 36 stamps, I think 30 stamps lang naman ang need. Now we had 37 stamps na before pa siya nag-upgrade. You can only get one stamp per day pero establishment so yung iba na inuulit niya, no stamps. Yey! +6 Kidzos na siya sa mga jobs and +2 Kidzos because of the Degree.

We got FREE 3 bottles of Poten-Cee (Vitamin C Gummies) when we went there. Sana lagi may freebies sa Kidzania.

You can also buy a ticket online to save time in falling in line and to reserve a slot. Buy your ticket here.
