Shopping at Decathlon Alabang

I’ve been seeing the word Decathlon in different social media but I did not mind it because I’m not into sports so feeling ko, marathon or fun run ito, magkarhyme e. hehehe! But last Thursday, my friend asked me if I’ve been to Decathlon in Festival Mall.

I said “No, hindi naman ko mahilig sa sports so baka wala ko mabili”. She said, try mo ang dami mura and she mentioned the stuff that they bought in Decathlon. She said that the store is big but according to her brother, x3 daw nun ang Decathlon sa Singapore.

Out of curiosity, I searched for it. According to Wikipedia, Decathlon is one of the largest sporting goods retailers which founded by Michel Leclercq in Lille, France. It started its first store in 1976 and now there are more than 1100 stores around the world. So far there is only one store in the Phillippines and it is located in Festival Mall, Alabang, Muntinlupa. Wow, ang tagal na pala and wala ko kamalay-malay.

Last Sunday, on our way to Alabang, I informed my husband about Decathlon so before we went to the grocery, we paid a visit to the store. And we were surprised na ang laki nga niya and the price is really affordable.

I even saw a friend there and sabi ko talaga, “napadpad ka dito sa South”. He said “dumadayo talaga kami dito sa Decathlon”. Well, if you are really into sports, you will appreciate Decathlon because your money can go along way. You can buy a shirt for as low as P199.

Kinain ko yung sinabi ko na baka wala ko mabili, because we went home with these stuff. Now I know, where to buy affordable sports clothes and accessories. I’m so glad na malapit ang first store sa amin. There are 8 cashiers pero ang haba pa rin ng pila so expect long lines.

If you want to become a member, just register and it is FREE. You can also get a one-time reusable bag for free or buy it for P50. I don't know yet, what are the benefits of being a member. Have you been to Decathlon?

Update April 9, 2018

My aunt was looking for shirts (big sizes) and I recommend Decathlon baka may makita siya na malaking size. So after my mom bought pants at Landmark, off we went to the store. At the counter, out of the blue, my mom asked me kung nasan na daw yung bitbit niya. What! I remembered na umupo siya in one of the benches in Decathlon store. So I guess, nung tumayo siya naiwan niya yung shopping bag.

We checked the whole store and one staff also helped us in checking each aisle then she referred us to one of the staff. The guy went to their office to check their LOST AND FOUND, but unfortunately, no one returned the shopping bag. I asked for CCTV footage so we can see who took the shopping bag but the guy replied na hindi naman daw nakafocus dun yung CCTV. Lesson learned, be alert. Nafood coma yata nanay ko after magbuffet sa All4U at bigla nakalimutan na may bitbit siya. Goodbye pants!

We Played Bowling for the very First Time

Ever since I transferred my son in traditional school, I always treat him every grading period. In the previous school kasi wala naman grades so when we moved to his new school, my son doesn’t care about his grades.

So in order to motivate him to study hard, I told him that I will treat him if he has an eagle seal on his card. At that time, Happy Meal nga lang ok na kami but things change when he entered grade school.

Now, he really says what he wanted when he gets an eagle seal. Last grading, he wanted a Power Rangers Dino Charge Megazord but I said no. I said, it is so expensive even though I really have no idea how much it is. But I treated him in Kidzania Manila.

Last month, my son said he wanted to play bowling when he gets a gold eagle seal. I did not take it seriously since ang tagal pa ng kuhaan ng card but last week, he told me about it again. But I said, gold eagle seal + general average should not below (insert gen.ave of 1st grading).

Since lumelevel-up request niya, level up din ang condition ko. Hehehe! Actually, I totally forgot about the school card so when he went home last Friday, all out smile siya and hawak na niya card niya. (2nd and 3rd grading, binibigay na lang sa kids) He was so happy because he met my condition.

My husband was asking him kung san kami magbowling and he said, SM Southmall. Honestly, we have no idea that Southmall has bowling center but we still went to Southmall at meron daw sabi ng anak ko.

True enough, there is bowling center there so wala kami ligtas. We ate early lunch at Pizza Hut para recharge ang energy. Hahaha! We ordered Meal 6 P699 + SC, it includes 1 Family Pizza, 2 pastas, 4 pcs wingstreet, 4 soups and 1 picther of drinks.

After lunch, we went to the bowling alley. Hubby and I played bowling before but this is the first time that we played bowling with my son. I was in grade 3 when I started playing this with my family. Yan madalas bonding namin with my mom pag nasa Pinas siya. Yun lang yata alam ng nanay ko na mag-enjoy kami, movie or bowling game every weekend.

They don’t have bowling balls for kids so nabibigatan anak ko, he was surprised siguro sa bigat hindi tulad nung plastic bowling balls and pins sa bahay. Hehehe!

My husband was teaching him how to hold and release the ball pero hirap talaga sa bigat. The staff even suggested to use a metal bar (don’t know what it is called) na ngayon ko lang alam na may ganun. Pero nakakanal pa rin yung balls, naawa tuloy ako pero my son looks happy kahit hindi natatamaan yung bowling pins.

So we continued playing it as long as happy siya and hindi siya affected sa score niya. He enjoyed it and said sa third grading daw, bowling daw ulit kami. Well, sa February ko pa makikita yun card so let’s see kung magbago pa.

Run for Hungry Minds

I’m not really into sports and I’m so lazy to exercise so when my husband told me that he will join fun run, I said ok, magpicture na lang ko. Then he decided to include my son so I bought running shorts last week. Two days before the fun run, he said ‘’niregister na rin kita”. Waah! "The family that runs together stays together" lang ang peg.

Most of the time I just stay in the house, ni walking-walking nga wala ko e, then tatakbo pa ko ng 5k run. He said, pwede naman half lang. Ok fine! As if I have a choice pa. I’ll just think that I can help someone because they pledge to donate PHP 150 to Food for Hungry Minds School for each participant who completes the loop (PHP 60 per km run).

So we woke up early last Sunday and my husband was teasing me nung nilabas ko running shoes ko. It looks new pa kasi, syempre naman mga 3x ko pa lang yata nagamit. Hahaha!

My husband got our race kit on the day of the event. Honestly, I’m not really prepared for this event so most of the time, nagwalk lang kami mag-ina. Hehehe!

At first, my son was complaining, “Mommy, this is not funny!” (antok pa kasi). Hehehe! There is no fun in Fun Run ba? But after several minutes, he enjoyed walking and running.

We did 2.5km and my husband finished the 5km run.

My warm-up and cool down pa but still my body was in pain until Monday. Nagising ang natutulog kong muscles. lol Do you also join fun run?

Running for the Beginners

It is not a secret here that I’m not into sports and I’m so lazy to exercise and stretch my body. I know that running is included in my goals for years and until now I’m still not doing it. Well, I tried walkathon but I did not pursue it at all. You can call me lazy, as the quote says

“The hardest step for a runner is the first one out of the door”

But honestly, I’m not giving up my goal yet because I know time will come that I will start running. In the meantime, I’m busy reading articles about “benefits of running” to convince myself that I should start immediately because running offers several health benefits such as

1. It build strong bones.
2. It strengthen muscles.
3. It will improve cardiovascular fitness
4. It will help you to maintain a healthy weight.
5. It will burn plenty of calories.

I’m also searching information like “running for beginners” so I would be prepared. Sharing to you some information that I’ve found all over the web.

1. Decide and set goals

Of course the first thing we need to do is decide. Decide when to start running and set your goals. Are you going to run in the morning or evening? Every day run or weekend run? Are you interested in participating fun run or marathon in the near future?

2. Plan your route

Safety is very important when you run so make sure you choose the right route.

3. Wear the right gear

If you think that dark coloured clothes are good then you are wrong. Director Felicia Hubber said we need to “dress like a Christmas tree” for safety issue. It means we need to wear bright colors or put some reflective accents. I was checking TheClymb site, looking for different running apparel and gear.

Aside from clothes, shoes are very important so buy an appropriate pair of running shoes. My husband bought me running shoes last month and hopefully I can use it soon.

4. Create a mantra – running mantra will inspire us in order to achieve a certain goal. Some mantras I’ve found are

“If I run now, I can feel good about it all day. If I skip it now, I’ll feel guilty all day”

“A few moments of discomfort now, a day’s worth of elation later”

You can create your own mantra and because I’m not into running yet my mantra for now is “I can do this”.

Being Prepared For Every Eventuality When Camping With the Family

Camping equipment is only part of the process when planning the perfect camping trip with the family. You need to consider where you are planning to camp and the time of the year that you are going to be in the tents. Making the trip enjoyable for everyone will ensure that the children have a brilliant time, and everyone wants to go camping in the future.

Some parents find the thought of camping with the children far too daunting; however if you are prepared it can be a fun trip. You need to ensure that you have plenty organized and that everyone knows what is expected of them whilst camping. Planning is essential and will guarantee that you have everything you need before setting off on the trip.

Once the camping equipment is all packed and ready, you can begin to pack the other essential items such as spare clothing, food, and first aid kits. No one wants there to be an accident whilst away, but these things do happen, and being prepared is essential. There are several different first aid kits to choose from, and you need to consider where you are camping, how long for, and your budget.

You need to think about all weather conditions and be ready for the weather to change without warning. There is nothing worse than being cold and wet whilst camping, which is why you need to pack clothes for every type of weather. High altitude camping can cause sunburn, and at night the temperatures are likely to drop.

Staying safe is not all about having the best first aid kit, and you need to ensure that you teach your children about the dangers of the great outdoors. There are several plants and trees that are poisonous, and your children need to understand that not everything is safe to touch. Animals can also be a threat depending on where you are camping, therefore, common sense is needed.

Stocking up on essentials is a fantastic idea, as you will be surprised how much water, food and basic items you use whilst away. You are better to have more than you need of these items rather than not enough. You want your children to enjoy the camping experience not complain that they were thirsty and hungry.

Sleeping in a tent should be a fun activity, which is why you need to ensure that there is enough space and that the bedding is comfortable. Everything is far brighter after a decent night’s sleep, which is why you need to have lots of fun activities to tire the children out, and a comfortable place to sleep.

Pack games, toys, cards and coloring kits to ensure that everyone has something to do whilst camping. The outdoors are fun, but after a while laying and reading, or coloring may be appealing to your children. You want them to have fun, explore the wilderness, remain safe and want to go camping again in the future.
