Father’s Day Celebration

Another long weekend but we did not travel kasi every weekend na lang kami wala sa bahay so we wanted to stay home naman. And yesterday was Father’s Day too pero wala din handa, parang gusto na namin magdiet because since last month, puro buffet at kainan kami.

I made a Father’s Day Cake Topper but I was not able to use it because my husband doesn’t want a cake. For the cake topper, I just used one of the SVG designs from the Father’s Day Greeting Quotes Bundle

I also made this Father’s Day Layered Card using the Me and Dad Layered Card Design of The Bearded Housewife. I like this card because it reminded me of the the days when my son was in toddler years, lagi siya nasa shoulders ng Daddy niya kasi ang bagal maglakad or ayaw na maglakad. hehehe! "On Dad's Shoulders was the best place to be" Happy Father's Day!

Akala ko hindi na kami aalis but I remembered that my mom gave money to my son so he can watch “Inside Out 2” movie. His cousins watched this movie na kasi kaso hindi siya nakasama kasi naman malayo kami so para no FOMO, I suggested na manood na kami. I checked the schedule at Southwoods Mall and buzzer beater kami sa 4:10PM na movie.

I was checking my blog post and yung last movie na pinanood namin sa big screen was Avengers: Endgame and sa Norway pa. Hindi na kasi ko mahilig manood ng sine, hinihintay ko na lang sa Netflix. PHP380 x 3 persons, mahal din ha, buti na lang may free popcorn and water na yun. Hehehe!

The Song

Just this week we watched “The Song” movie, an American romantic drama film in 2014. The film was inspired by the book Song of Songs and Solomon’s Life. The story is about Jed King; a struggling musician and son of successful country music legend, David King.

At a festival, he met Rose, the daughter of a vineyard owner. He fell in love, married her, and wrote a song about her wife. This song became an instrument to his stardom but because of his fame, it affected his marriage and life choices.

I like this song, it can be a wedding song too.

The Song (Awaken Love) by Alan Powell

I'd been waiting on you to come along
Seeing notes on a page but not the song
Had a hole in my heart and a pain so strong
Only a woman like you could take me on

There's a plan for us, a hand divine
The waiting was worth it now you're my wife
We've been taking our time and doing this right
But tonight I'm not gonna just kiss you good night

You, the song my heart sings
Awake love I want you to know we're making love
Deeper than our bodies you are written on my soul
You're eyes like the dawn you are beauty
The touch of your skin consumes me
You shine like the sun pure and lovely

Set me as a seal upon your heart
O love stronger than death
Flashes of fire with purest desire
No waters will get quench
Awaken love awaken love
No riches or power appeal
All will find they are truly alive
In Love as it was meant to be
This is love as it was meant to be

Love is the power that heals
Love is the power that heals

Growing Older and Nearing Home

When I hit my 40s, I won't deny that there are times that I feel nervous or scared because it seems that I am nearing my senior year. I can't help but ask, do I still have more time to do what I want in life? Do I still have more energy to travel? Can I still eat the food that I love? Am I physically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually prepared for my retirement years?

Speaking of growing older and nearing home, I would like to share the movie that I recently watched and a book that I've read about nearing home.

A Man Called Otto

Just this week, we watched "A Man Called Otto", it is a film adaptation of “A Man Called Ove” novel. This is a comedy-drama film starring Tom Hanks. He played Otto Anderson; a 63-year-old widower and retired man who lives in suburban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After his retirement, he felt that he no longer has a purpose in life so he planned to end his own life but his attempts were always interrupted by his neighbors.

This movie shows the struggles, challenges, or problems that we may face as we grow older. When that time comes, do we feel useless? Ineffective? Bored? Depressed? Whatever we feel, it is not a reason to feel hopeless, and let us remind ourselves that “God has a reason why we are still alive”

Billy Graham Nearing Home

Two years ago, I’ve read the book “Billy Graham Nearing Home” and according to his book, the best way to meet the challenges of old age is to prepare for them now, before they arrive. He said that growing older was not something to be denied or dreaded; it was to be embraced as part of God’s plan for our lives.

I always pray that I will reach old age because I have so many things that I want to do, so many places I want to visit and of course, I want to see my future grandchildren. I just hope that when I am old, I won’t be a grumpy old woman.

I will share my Top 11 quotes from Billy Graham Nearing Home book.

“The gift of old age is remembrance”

“Enjoy life - it has an expiration date”

“We should never get too old to learn or too old to smile”

“As long as we are still breathing, we are leading the way”

“Retirement should not put us on the shelf. We should use this time in our lives to rest from our labors but lift up others who are carrying heavy loads”

“Loneliness, loss of purpose, depression, feelings of worthlessness, anxiety, fear of the future - there and a host of other emotions are common among retirees”

“Look for the Lord’s purpose in every circumstance and in every face or voice you encounter daily, for the time He has given you is not without purpose”

“Retirement isn’t something that just happens if you live long enough, and it isn’t even a reward for your years of hard work; it is a gift from God”

“One day you may not be able to do everything you once did or everything you would like to do. Instead of feeling guilty or frustrated or resentful, however, thank God that you can still do some things - and make it your goal to do them faithfully and do them well”

“Life is seldom easy as we grow older - but old age has its special joys - the joy of time with family and friends, the joy of freedom from responsibilities we once had, and the joy of savoring the little things we once overlooked”

"People either seem to get better or to get bitter as they grow older"

Inspiring Quotes from Rudy Movie

"Rudy" is considered one of the best sports movies and one of the most inspiring films of all time. It is a true-to-life story of Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger who never gives up on chasing his dreams despite doubts and obstacles. He has dyslexia and he has no money, so getting into Notre Dame is not an easy journey. But because of his heart, determination, and commitment, he was able to achieve his dream.

The film is already 3 decades old but it is worth watching, I’m sharing my favorite lines from the movie, this might help us in case we are about to lose hope or give up our dreams.

“When people say dreams don’t come true, tell them about Rudy”

“My whole life, people have been telling me what I could do and couldn’t do. I’ve always listened to them, and believed in what they said. I don’t wanna do that anymore.” – Rudy Ruettiger

“Well, you know what my dad always said, ‘Having dreams is what makes life tolerable.” – Pete

“Sometimes, a winner is a dreamer who just won’t quit.” - Rudy Ruettiger

“In this lifetime, you don’t have to prove nothing to nobody except yourself.” – Fortune

“Praying is something we do in our time. The answers come in God’s time.” – Father Cavanaugh

My Korean Movies List

For the past few years, I’ve been watching a lot of Korean drama series and as of this writing, I’ve already watched 103 Korean dramas, not including the unfinished series. After I hit my 100, I had a hard time looking for a good series to binge-watch. I started some series but I lost interest and I don’t know if I will still continue to watch them.

And because of that, I started exploring Korean movies. The first two Korean movies that I watched are “A Moment to Remember” and Miracle in Cell No. 7, these were already old movies. As far as I know, I am not addicted to kdrama yet when I watched these movies. Both movies are tear-jerkers and they are worth watching.

When I started watching the drama series, I watched the “Fabricated City” movie because I learned that Ji Chang Wook is part of this movie. Then just this year, I finished watching Space Sweepers, Extreme Jobs and My Girlfriend is an Agent. I’m still searching for good movies but some are not available on Netflix.

Over the Moon Movie

I was browsing the Netflix List and I saw Over The Moon movie and I asked my son if he already watched it and he said yes. I got curious so while ironing our clothes, I watched this movie. Over The Moon is a 2020 American-Chinese animated film. I think this is the first animated film of Netflix so you can’t compare it to Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar, etc.

The story is about a girl named Fei Fei, when she was still young her mother always tells her story about the goddess of the moon “Chang’e”. Her mother died and a few years later, her father was engaged. She was upset and decided to build a skyrocket that will reach the moon. This movie is not only for kids because even adults can enjoy this movie.

What can you learn about Over The Moon movie?

This movie will make you understand how people deal with losing someone. Grieving impacts everyone and we handle it differently. There is no time limit on mourning because whether we like it or not, the pain remains with us. But it doesn't mean that we stay that way, it is a process of accepting, letting go, and moving on.

This year, I lost my father and my sister so our family is trying our very best to go back to normal. There are days that we are okay and there are days that we are not. So I can totally relate to the story of Fei Fei because it is really hard to move on. Even though we know that they are in a better place, we can never deny that we will always miss our loved ones.

Sharing some quotes about grieving and moving on.

“It has been said - time heals all wounds - I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.” - Rose Kennedy

“Let it hurt. Let it bleed. Let it heal. And let it go.” - Nikita Gill

“You may no longer be able to hold the one who has gone, but you hold them in your heart and you continue to love them in a different way - by channeling that love into acts of service for other people.” - Mitch Albom

“It’s hard to turn the page when you know someone won’t be in the next chapter but the story must go on. -Thomas Wilder”

"Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go" Jamie Anderson

Avengers: Endgame

Since March, we’ve been seeing the trailer of Avengers: Endgame so my son was excited to watch it but the excitement was gone when my husband told him.

Hubby: Ethan, wala ka sa April, I will watch Avengers.
Ethan: No, you can’t do that. It’s a family movie.

Fast forward to Avenger: Endgame showing

Hubby: I thought it’s a family movie, why did you watch Avengers?
Ethan: I’m with mommy.

We don’t normally watch a movie because I find it expensive so most of the time, hihintayin na lang namin sa TV but there are times that we splurge too. I can’t remember if we watched the Avengers movie in the theater but one thing is for sure, after my son watched Avengers (2012), he became a fan. So my husband and son watched The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) in the cinema and we watched the Avengers: Infinity War last year.

I’ve said before na bitin yung Infinity War so I really want to watch the Avengers: Endgame. In addition, ito na yung last Avengers movie so I don’t want to miss it too. We’re supposed to watch the Avengers: Endgame on the first day but the first showing which is 17:15 is already sold out, the next schedule is 20:45. Masyado ng late ang tapos so mapupuyat kami, lol.

So we checked the movie schedule and I was surprised when I saw the schedule, hindi siya everyday na may palabas and kung meron man one per day lang.

April 24, 2019 - 17:15 and 20:45
April 25, 2019 - 19:30
April 26, 2019 - 19:00
April 28, 2019 - 16:15
April 30, 2019 - 18:00

I’m not sure kung ganito rin sa city but in my mom’s place since konti lang daw population sa Norway, ganun lang talaga ang schedule nila. We agreed to watch on Friday and we did not reserve any ticket. We arrived 20 minutes before 7PM and dun pa lang kami bumili ng ticket, so good thing there are still available seats, hindi nga lang kami magkatabi ng nanay ko and front seats na kaming mag-ina.

Since the movie is 3 hours, I told my son na bawal umihi ha so wag ka gaano uminom. Natawa na lang ko kasi hindi niya na ininom softdrinks niya hanggang matapos movie. The movie is long but we did not feel it, parang gusto ko pa nga ng mas mahaba. I felt sad sa ending ng movie, masakit sa puso but what can I do, ganun talaga.

This was our first time to watch a movie abroad and good thing my mom treated us. Kahit never pa siya nakawatch ng Avengers movie so I don’t know kung nakarelate ba siya. Hehehe! We left the movie house past 10PM and for the first time nakita ko rin na padilim ang sky.

Rainy Weekend

Our summer vacation is about to end so I was cramming again. I bought my son’s uniform three weeks ago but after washing it, hindi ko na siya ginalaw. Hehehe! Iniisip ko kung ipapatahi ko ba o ako na lang magtatahi. I have sewing machine at home but I’m not confident with my sewing skills since konti pa lang nagagawa ko. I’m afraid na baka masira ko pa yung school pants ng anak ko, ang mahal pa naman ng uniform.

Read: The Day I Learned How to Sew

But after watching YouTube videos nagkalakas na rin ko ng loob. It was funny because I forgot how to put thread in the bobbin and sewing machine, so aral ulit. When I was about to sew, I realized that my thread was insufficient for 4 school pants, so I told my husband I needed to go to the mall. Typhoon Domeng did not stop us, kelangan ko ng sinulid.

Jurassic World

My husband and son were pleased because we could also watch a movie. My husband asked his parents if they wanted to watch a movie but they declined, may sarili silang lakad. So off we went to Southwoods Mall to watch Jurassic World. We knew that we were late for the 10:45AM first showing but my husband saw that there was an 11:10AM schedule so buzzer beater na naman kami. The movie fee is P300 (with popcorn and bottled water) so I guess, the rate depends on the movie or may price increase na. We just watched Avengers: Infinity War last month, P290 lang. You cannot choose the flavor of the popcorn, mas prefer ko yung popcorn last month, sour cream yata.

Hukad

After watching the movie, I wanted to go home but my husband wanted to eat at Hukad. This branch was just opened last April 2018. He always visits Hukad whenever he is in Cebu and we also tried it during our trip. It was past 1PM so the restaurant was not full. Upon seated, we immediately browsed the menu and my husband said, wala daw yung inoorder niya.

I’m not sure if they have a different menu or we did not notice the dish on their menu. We just ordered Dinuguan P175+, Chicken Tinola P300+ and 3 Rice P65+. I was not able to take photos because when I went back to our table, busy na mag-ama ko sa pagkain so ito na lang natira. Hehehe!

The food was just okay for us, I was not happy with the Unli Rice for P65 because lugi kami dito. I hope they have an option na per cup lang. My son and I were not able to finish 1 cup of rice nga e. But if your family loves unlimited rice, then sulit itong Hukad sa inyo.

The last time we tried Hukad was two years ago pa, so I was surprised with the price increase or iba presyo sa Luzon? Well, the price is budget-friendly compared to other restaurants kaso nasa utak ko lang yung presyo sa Cebu. Hehehe!

Back to Schook Preparation

When we got home, I started sewing my son’s school pants and I’m so proud of myself na nagawa ko. After that, I was thinking kung tahiin ko na rin kaya mga pants ko ng di na ko tupi ng tupi. Alam niyo naman, petite lang lola niyo, hehehe!

Then I printed labels for my son’s books and school supplies. This is one thing that I don’t like in their school, they only give section few days before the first day of school. Now, I’m waiting for the list of subject teachers so I can print labels for notebooks naman.

Avengers: Infinity War

We’ve been seeing the trailer of Avengers Infinity War since March and we’ve been meaning to watch it. We were out of the country during the first showing of it and I suggested to my husband that we watch the movie at Terminal 21, para maexperience lang namin manood ng movie abroad. But it did not happen because we were always tired after our tour. So after our long vacation, off we went to Southwoods Mall last Labor Day.

It was our first time to watch a movie at this mall, the first reason is namamahalan ako sa movie fee nila. In my mind, hindi ba provincial rate ang cinema nila, ano bang meron bakit mahal? But since we wanted to watch Avengers: Infinity War and ayaw na namin lumayo, we tried Southwoods Mall Cinema. We paid P290 each with free popcorn and bottled water. P230 if no popcorn and drinks.

The line was long and fortunately, umabot kami sa 10:45AM showing. #buzzerbeater When we entered the movie theater, maganda naman pala. I think this is better than Alabang Town Center. Bago pa talaga, now I knew why the fee is not provincial rate.

We enjoyed watching Avengers: Infinity War, the only thing I don’t like is the ending parang bitin e. Tip ko lang, when you saw the list of casts and staffs, tiyagain niyo lang kasi may scene pa after nun. I was glad that we watched the Black Panther movie last March or else baka hindi ko makarelate dun sa part na yun.

The Week that Was

Just when I thought that I could already blog every day because my son would be back to school but I’ve been nursing a cold and cough since Monday evening so I really took the time to rest. I still have colds and cough and hopefully, I will be healed soon.

Well, what happened this past week.

Flu Vaccine

We had the flu vaccine last weekend and a few days before the vaccine, we already informed my son about it. I’m not sure if my son has a “needle phobia” but he really dislikes injections. Just the thought of a vaccine makes him cry. It’s our dilemma every year, agaw-eksena talaga. But I’m happy to say that he is improving na, he still cried but at least hindi na mega cry and hindi na pumipiglas. I hope next year, he can conquer his fear.

Back to School

I envy those kids who are still on vacation because we’re back to school last Monday. Ang hirap gumising ng 5AM again. Waah! Parang ang bilis lang kasi, til first week of April ang end of school year namin then pasok na agad ng June 5. Good thing we went home one week before school starts or else, good luck sa jetlag and preparation for school.

Birthday at Vikings

Because of the vaccine and back-to-school preparation, we just had a simple birthday celebration of my husband’s birthday. We just went to Vikings to take advantage of the free birthday buffet. I already blogged about this before so I will just tell the few changes that I’ve noticed.

Read: Lunch at Vikings at SM BF

We were there past 12NN and we’re glad that there is an available table for us. I informed them that we are going to availof  the birthday promo so they just asked for my husband’s ID. Then we started our feast, we don’t really eat a lot so lugi talaga kami sa buffet kaya it is better if may discount or promo. Sharing with you, my plate.

They also gave us a soup. Wala nito dati.

After several minutes, I saw the staff gathered together, they were holding cakes and banners for the birthday celebrant. Then they started to sing “Happy Birthday” while distributing the cake to all the birthday celebrants. So it is a different experience compared to our last visit, before kasi per table ang sing and dance nila. Now, isahan kanta na lang and they still go to your table to take your picture. Which is okay for me para mas mabilis din. I remember eating in two buffet restaurants, nakauwi na lang kami wala kami cake or greetings (birthday promo din).

Improving ang complimentary cake kaso hindi sinindihan. hehehe!

When it comes to bills, paying bills is fast na. They go to your table and they process the payment there (credit card payment). I remember our last visit, it took them forever to process it. So may nangyayari naman pala sa survey na sinasagutan ko. :)

Wonder Woman Movie Night

Every year, my husband’s company gives free movie nights and this year's movie is “Wonder Woman”. My husband doesn’t want to go anymore because we’re both not feeling well but I told him, sayang naman ticket. So we still watched the movie. I liked the movie, gandang-ganda kasi ko kay Gal Gadot. But if you ask my husband and son, okay lang sa kanila movie.

So that’s it for now. Looking forward to our three long weekends.

Long Weekend Bonding

There is no holiday this March but my son has no classes last Friday so off we went to Valenzuela. My mom and aunt are here for quick vacation so family get-together again for us. And we have Freia chocolates again, I like this chocolate but I can’t find this anywhere so pag may pasalubong ko lang siya natitikman.

We had a quick visit to my grandmother and other relatives.

I can already feel the heat of the summer but unfortunately sa April pa ang summer vacation namin. Hay, ang tagal ng pasukan namin ngayon. Non-awardees/non-graduating students in school, nakabakasyon na as early as March 17 but my son has an award so we need to go back to school for Recognition practice hanggang April. Waah! Ang tagal noh, para sa 1 minute na pag-akyat ng stage.

I even told my son, wag ka na kaya magpractice. Yes, I know, bad influence ako. Hehehe! I’m lazy to iron his uniform and bakasyon na bakasyon na ko. But my son wanted to attend the practice, pinaghirapan nga naman niya yung award na yun. Hehehe!

Anyway, they swam last Saturday sa clubhouse lang ng brother ko. We will be having a family outing in Macampao Beach and Leisure Farm this weekend. It’s been months since the last time we went to the beach so we are all excited.

Last Sunday, we fetch my mother-in-law to celebrate my son’s recognition in advance and to redeem the vouchers that we got. We ate at Four Seasons Buffet and Hotpot City at SM Southmall and watch Beauty and the Beast movie.

My husband needs to redeem his Globe Reward Points that will expire this March, so we were able to watch a movie again for free. Yey! It is nice to eat, shop and watch a movie for FREE.

Our Free Movie Date

My husband is always busy so most of the time, he doesn’t pay too much attention to all the text that he receives from his postpaid plan or any other text alert on his phone. Then two months ago, he discovered that he can use his points in SM Cinema so lagi niya kami niyaya na manood ng movie. But my son and I always decline, natatamad kami. Hehehe!

We seldom watch movie because it is expensive and we have our own preferences. My son likes cartoons, my husband of course, likes thrilling and action movies while I like feel good movies. So choices pa lang ng movie, di na kami magkasundo. Hehehe!

Last Saturday, we really had no plan in watching a movie. We just need to pay bills and go to the supermarket. On our way to S&R, my husband suggested that we should watch a movie first before grocery so we went straight to Southmall.

Feeling ko strategy niya yan kasi no choice na kaming mag-ina at nakasakay na kami ng kotse. Hehehe! I’m not updated with the movies but I saw the “Oops, Noah is Gone” so I suggested this to hubby because it is included in Family Movie Day Oct. 15-16, 2016.

Buy two SM Cinema Tickets and get two additional tickets for FREE
Free movie tickets are applicable to kids 4ft and below.
Free movie tickets must be used on the same schedule of the purchased tickets.

But my husband prefers “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”. I don’t know how to redeem the Smart Rewards Points for movie tickets because my husband did it. Well, it is not totally a FREE movie date because we need to pay P1 each for paper cost fee.

I have no time to search for this movie so nung nag-umpisa, natakot na ko kasi mukhang horror. Knowing me, I don’t like horror movies but my husband said “hindi ito horror, magic ito”.

Throughout the movie, my son was whispering to me.

Ethan: Mommy, this is a horror movie.
Mommy, I don't like this movie.
Mommy, daddy chose the wrong movie. (Repeat for the nth time)

After the movie, he said to his daddy.

Ethan: Daddy, nagwaste tayo ng 3hrs. Hahaha (more or less 2 hrs lang movie)

Well, good thing that we only paid P3 for this movie. Actually, nagkanightmare pa anak ko dito, he really woke up in the middle of the night sa takot. So hindi niya talaga makalimutan that “daddy chose the wrong movie”. hehehe!

So if you have Smart Postpaid line, don’t forget to use your points. Sayang talaga yung mga hindi naredeem ni hubby. As far as I can remember, five years ago yung last namin nagamit yung points niya. We also watched movie.

We also used his points for Red Ribbon mamon, o di ba may baon na anak ko sa school. Hehehe!

What Happened Last Week?

June 13 was the first day of school and two days before that I was cramming to print labels and cover 9 books. My life would be easy if I just cover the books without waiting for my son’s section but I decided to wait for the section that was posted last June 10. Thanks to free printables online so I just edit the name and print.

June 13

First day of school. I accompany my son in school so I can see his classroom, adviser teacher and classmates. We arrived just in time so I don’t have a nice picture of my son in the school. “Kukunin ko pa lang phone ko to take picture, the teacher said, mommy, pwede niyo na po iwan.” Waah! #buhaystagemother

Next time, di na kami sasabay sa school service pag first day of school. It’s been three years and consistent na buzzer beater kami.

After school, we went to dentist for oral prophylaxis. I claimed my labtest result.

June 14

I printed school money stickers and labels for notebooks, I waited for the list of subject teachers.

June 15 onwards

On our third day, I can really feel that we’re back to school because we are doing our assignments na. 10 months na ganito ulit.

June 17

We watched “Finding Dory” movie. My husband’s company provided free tickets so yehey for a free movie. We liked Finding Nemo and we also loved Finding Dory. #justkeepswimming

June 18

We went to the hospital for my routine check-up.

We went home to prepare for my friend's wedding, we’re running late and it took us 3 hours just to reach the church. No thanks to traffic in NCR. Buti umabot pa kami sa “You may now kiss the bride”.

June 19

Third Sunday of June so it is Father’s Day, I got free father’s DIY card so I just printed it and let my son write his own message for his daddy.

After lunch we went to The Bellevue Manila for the Bellevue Kids Club Grand Launch, my son had fun.

Jurassic World Movie

I don’t understand why my son loves watching dinosaurs and he never gets tired of watching the Jurassic Park series. He watched Jurassic Park 1, 2, and 3 over and over again for the last two years.

And because he loves dinosaurs, we were supposed to go to Dinosaurs Island last summer but there was a sudden change of plan. It is still on my bucket list because my son loves to go there but I just don’t know when since Pampanga and Baguio are miles away.

Last summer, my son watched the Jurassic World trailer on YouTube and I was not surprised when he told me that he wanted to watch the movie. I thought he will forget about the movie after a few weeks.

But I was wrong, this time he really wanted to see the movie on the big screen. Knowing us, we don’t really watch a movie on the big screen because it is so expensive, movie ticket + food.

Since my son is already 6 yrs old, he is so aware of dates so since Monday, he kept on telling me, “Mommy, lapit na June 10, Jurassic World na”. “Mommy, no classes on June 12”

So we spent Independence Day in the cinema. We went to ATC to watch Jurassic World, we ate lunch first but it was a bad idea because when we fell in line to buy the ticket, no more seats available for 1:15PM so waited until 3:30PM just to watch the movie.

But it was worth the wait because we enjoyed the movie, it was fun and exciting. Imagine, the Dinosaur Amusement Park that John Hammond planned 20 years ago has been realized.

My son loves theme park so he really enjoyed the movie, it would be nice if our Dinosaur Island is like that. There are trains, boats, and other rides that you can use to tour the amusement park. The theme park is really good if there are no genetically engineered hybrids.

Though nothing beats the original that I watched when I was still in elementary days. I would consider Jurassic World as the second favorite in the series.

Avengers Age of Ultron

My husband’s company had a special screening of “Avengers Age of Ultron” at SM Aura last Friday. My son was so excited to watch the movie because he is a fan of Avengers.

But last Friday, I wasn’t feeling well blame it to abdominal pain so I was convincing my son that we will watch Avengers on Saturday.

Ethan: No, you said we will watch Friday not Saturday.

It is really difficult if you promised to him because you have to fulfill it. #trustissue So my husband just gave our free tickets to his officemates and went home after his office.

He picked up my son and they watched the movie without me, huhuhu! Good thing they were able to watch the 7PM movie at SM Sta Rosa, because next schedule is 8PM and 8:30PM. #buzzerbeater Nagtiyaga ang mag-ama sa front seats and popcorn na dinner maumpisahan lang ang Avengers.

I was asking my son about the movie pero ayaw magkwento, lol. Ok fine, hintayin ko na lang sa TV. Hehehe!

Lessons from Cinderella Movie

We’re supposed to watch this movie two weeks ago with my family in Valenzuela but my son had Kid’s Scout Day Camp and my husband needs to finish installing our solar panel at home.

Honestly, my son didn’t want to watch Cinderella because it is a movie for girls but my mom wanted to treat him because we’re absent last time.

I’m pretty sure that we are all aware of the Cinderella story but even you know the story, you will enjoy the latest version of the movie. Even my son who said that it is only for girls enjoyed the part when the fairy godmother appeared and change the pumpkin to a carriage, goose to a driver, and so on.

Most of the little girls dream to be Cinderella one day. Hoping that they will also meet their own Prince Charming. But the Cinderella story is not just about meeting your true love, there are so many lessons that you can learn.

Have Courage and Be Kind

Have courage and be kind are the last words of Ella’s mother. It is easier said than done. Ella lost her mother and father and she has to deal with her stepmom and sisters who abuse her kindness.

It is not easy to be kind if you want to defend yourselves to bully people. It is not easy to be kind if you are hurt. It is not easy to find strength when you feel alone.

But Cinderella pressed on and proved that kindness is the best revenge. She doesn’t need to use her strength to fight back.

Have Faith

Ella struggles after she lost her father but she did not give up. She finds joy with her little friends and learns to live in her present life.

The burden was so heavy but she believed that “best days are yet to come”

Care to share what lessons you've learned in the movie.

Night Sky Cinema in Nuvali

I can’t remember what year Night Sky Cinema started but I know that we wanted to try it. Unfortunately, we always have scheduled trip on showing dates so it took us so long to experience it. We’re supposed to go last November but when I’ve learned that they will show scary movies, ayawan na. Knowing me, I don’t watch horror movies. Hehehe!

We were looking for rubber mats day before the trip pero namamahalan ko sa P800 so wag na lang. We have no idea what time the movie will start but the gates will be opened at 4PM so we left the house at 2PM to avoid the traffic, so we cN secure parking slot and nice spot for the movie.

Parking space in Nuvali Fields
No traffic so we were there before 3PM, fortunately the gate was opened past 3PM so we went to Nuvali Fields immediately. We were able to borrow rubber mats at 4PM just leave your ID.

There were food stalls too if you want to buy food and drinks. We brought some snacks and drinks but no rice meal so we had early dinner there bago pa dumilim. My husband bought BBQ and Sisig Meal at P65.

Kanya-kanyang pwesto
The program started at 4:45PM and the first movie was “Rise of the Guardians”. Remember our advent calendar, we missed “Watch your favorite Christmas movie” activity so nagawa din namin. Hehehe!

We already knew the list of movies so even we already watched it, we still went to Nuvali because watching in open field and under the night sky is a different experience. Since it is December month, we brought some blankets and jackets but honestly it was not enough. Nilalamig pa rin kami, I should wear hoodie kasi nilalamig ang aking face.

We just finished the second movie which was "Home Alone" and we went home already and baka maging yelo na daw kami sa lamig. Lol The third movie was “The Holiday” so hindi na pang 6yrs old.

By the way, if you upload your pictures on Instagram and put hashtag #nuvali and #nightskycinema they will print that pictures for free. I uploaded two photos only at ang bagal ng net.

The next Night Sky Cinema is in February, I’m not sure about the date yet. Admission is free.
