Christmas Breakfast Buffet at Goji Kitchen + Bar

We usually go to Tagaytay for our Christmas Breakfast but for a change, we had a Christmas Staycation at Clark Marriott Hotel. We only used our Marriott Bonvoy points for our accommodation so breakfast is not included.

Upon check-in, the staff informed us that we could avail of the Breakfast Buffet at PHP1200/per person, kasi kapag sa restaurant PHP2,100 daw ang rate. At that time, I had no idea about their rates but as of this writing, I checked their page and saw their lunch and dinner buffet rate so okay na naman pala yung rate ng breakfast for check-in guests.

Buffet Lunch: ₱3,295
Dinner Buffet: ₱3,595

Goji Kitchen + Bar is an all-day buffet at Clark Marriott Hotel. The buffet restaurant has a live kitchen so you can see how they prepare the dishes. We went to the restaurant around 7AM and I thought mga tulog pa yung mga guest pero marami na pala nagbrebreakfast. Hehehe! I gave our Breakfast Vouchers and the staff assisted us to our table.

I browsed each station and marami rin naman choices like bread, soup, noodles, dim sum, rice meal, salad, fruits etc.

May Filipino Station din.

For drinks, I ordered Hot Chocolate kaso hindi ko type yung chocolate nila. Buti na lang marami pa options like juices and shakes.

Nagserve din ng turon yung staff and masarap ito. Hindi ko lang alam kung saan station oorder kasi wala ako nung binigay sa table, kulang tuloy ng isa. Buti na lang hindi mahilig anak ko sa turon kaya ako kumain. Hehehe!

Same with Wu Xing Chinese Restaurant, okay ang service ng mga staff dito. Nakapagpaslice pa nga kami ng mango. May naexperience kami sa ibang hotel na yung foreigner binigyan ng platter of mango pero nung kami humingi, for display lang daw. Waah!

Anyway, we were done eating in less than an hour so we went back to our room na.

Christmas Staycation at Clark Marriott Hotel

I was busy crafting during ber-months so I forgot to plan for our Christmas Holiday. A week before Christmas, I was planning for our menu, mag-order lang ako ng food since I didn’t want to cook. But I changed my mind because ang mahal din pala ng magagastos ko kung mag-order ako ng food for our family get-together plus our Christmas dinner. Tapos kakain pa kami ng Christmas breakfast somewhere in Tagaytay (our tradition for the past several years).

So I suggested to my husband na magstaycation na lang kami ng Christmas and advance na lang namin yung Christmas Family Get-Together sa bahay. Malakas lang ang loob ko na magstaycation because I knew na free yung accommodation namin care of Marriott Bonvoy Points.

We’ve been to Sheraton Manila, Sheraton Manila Bay, and Sheraton Mactan so ang pinagpipilian namin are The Westin Manila, Manila Marriott Hotel, and Clark Marriott Hotel. And the winner is Clark Marriott Hotel kasi hindi pa namin napupuntahan.

Christmas Staycation at Clark Marriott Hotel

This is our first Christmas Staycation because normally, sa bahay lang talaga kami at kakain sa labas ng Christmas breakfast. We left early to avoid the traffic and arrived at Clark Marriott Hotel before 9AM.

The staff gave us 2 options kung magpay kami ng deposit or pay as order na lang sa restaurant, we chose the latter. And since we only used our points for our accommodation, breakfast is not included. The staff informed us that we can avail the Buffet Breakfast for PHP1,200/person kasi yung sa restaurant pa daw kami mag-avail, PHP2,100/person daw yung rate. Since it was our first time, I had no idea sa buffet rates nila. Plan ko sana na magroom service na lang kami but in the end, we availed the breakfast and the staff gave us vouchers and keycard. Yey! Early check-in.

Clark Marriott Hotel Deluxe Room - King

We prefer 2 double beds but it is not available so siksikan kaming tatlo sa king sized bed. We have a couch, mini fridge, TV, complimentary coffee/tea maker.

Marbled bathroom. The toilet has a bidet.

Clark Marriott Hotel Dining Options

Clark Marriott hotel has Goji Kitchen + Bar, Smoki Moto, Wu Xing, The Lounge, Urban Coffee, Pool Bar and Noodle Inc. You can also visit the restaurants of Swissotel and Hann Resort. These 3 hotels are connected so you can just explore the area. Sa dami ng pagpipilian, hindi ka talaga magugutom, nakakabutas lang ng bulsa. Hehehe!

We had lunch at Wu Xing, breakfast at Goji Kitchen and for dinner, wala gusto sa amin magdinner na kasi may leftover kami sa Wu Xing and madami din snacks na binigay ang Marriott so we just ate Gelato at Oma’s -Swissotel Clark. Our initial plan is dinner at Smoki Moto kaso hindi na natuloy but I hope next time, we can try this restaurant kasi maganda yung review. I will share our food trip in a separate post.

Complimentary from Clark Marriott Hotel

We got a complimentary chocolate bar, cake, snacks, and may Christmas gift sila na towel with Marriott logo. So wala man silang Christmas events or activities, may pagift naman.

Clark Marriott has spa, fitness center and swimming pool pero wala kami pinuntahan. We literally ate, rested, and slept last Christmas. No late check-out so we went home early at sa bahay na kami naglunch kasi marami kami leftover from our family get-together. Hehehe!

Birthday Celebration at Seasonal Tastes of The Westin Manila Hotel

Hotel buffet is costly so I always look for deals, discounts, or promotions. For my son's 16th birthday, I searched different credit card promotions and there are hotel buffets I like to try kaso, hindi na pasok yung date sa celebration namin. Good thing, I checked The Westin Manila Facebook page and I saw their promotion.

𝗘𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝟱𝟬% 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭 𝘁𝗼 𝟯𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰.

The buffet discount applies to the following:
• Marriott Bonvoy members: Minimum of one (1) up to a maximum of ten (10) adult diners
• Non-members: Minimum of two (2) up to a maximum of ten (10) adult diners

𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝘁 Daily | 12:00PM to 2:30PM
Regular Rate: P2,900 nett per person
𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗣𝟭,𝟰𝟱𝟬 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝘁
Friday to Sunday | 6:00PM to 10:00PM
Regular Rate: P3,600 nett per person
𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗣𝟭,𝟴𝟬𝟬 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻

I told my husband about this promo pero parang nagdadalawang isip siya because he already ate there and maliit lang yung restaurant ng The Westin Manila. I can’t blame him because he usually stays at The Westin Jakarta so sanay siya sa Seasonal Tastes buffet of The Westin Jakarta. In fact he just came from his Jakarta business trip tapos kinabukasan nasa Seasonal Tastes kami so buong linggo siya nagbuffet. :)

On the day of our food trip, my husband just booked using the link on the Facebook Page and also called to make sure. Buffet starts at 12NN so medyo late siya compared sa ibang hotel. We arrived 15 minutes before the opening hours but the staff already ushered us to our table and advised us na inform na lang kami kapag start na ng buffet.

My husband warned me na maliit lang yung restaurant and I agree, kung mahilig ka magmukbang, feeling ko matatry mo lahat ng food nila kasi hindi naman ganun karami. Although there are different stations, choices are limited. As far as I can remember, they have a Soup and Bread Station, Chinese and Noodles Station, Asian Delight Station, Chef’s Grilled Special Station, Pizza and Pasta Station, Japanese Station, Farm to Table Salad Bar, Charcuterie, Fruits Station, Plant-Based Station and Dessert Station.

The buffet rate includes one round of drinks, you can choose soda or juice. There is also a "One Dish Wonders" menu, so aside from the buffet spread you can order these dishes. Among the lists, we ordered Chicken Sisig Alfredo Pasta, Trio of Cheese Pizza, Grilled Beef Steak Chimichurri and Caramelized Banana Crepe. They did not check the pasta that they served, may eggshell pa na kasama.

We did not stay long and past 1PM, nag-ask na kami ng bill while eating our desserts.

Before going out of the restaurant para magpavalidate ng parking ticket, I saw the Complimentary Birthday Cake so I told my son na sayang may free cake pala. The staff heard me and asked kung may birthday celebrant ba and I said yes. She also asked kung nagsabi daw ba kami nung nagbooked? I said, I don’t know kasi si hubby nagpareserve.

Since pauwi na kami, the staff said itake-out ko na lang daw yung cake which we did. Pero yung mga birthday celebrants daw kasi kinakantahan pa nila. The cake tastes good pero parang hindi ko napansin sa buffet spread nila.

On our way home, I asked my husband kung nag-inform ba siya na may birthday celebrant nung nagbook siya and he said yes. Sa booking and nung tumawag siya. Hmm, so baka nakalimutan lang ng staff na ilista, wala kasi sa post it note nila.

Anyway, even though the buffet spread was limited, we still enjoyed our experience kasi kahit occupied yung lahat ng tables, hindi mo mafeel na crowded yung restaurant. Also, for PHP1,450 na rate, mas better ito kaysa sa Yurakuen namin last year.

7 Days Trip in Sydney Australia

Almost a year ago, Philippine Airlines had a Great Mabuhay Miles Getaway Sale so we checked their promo. We’ve been meaning to go back to Japan before the pandemic because we have a valid visa so we want to use it. Unfortunately, when we checked the promotion Japan has blackout dates.

We were left with two choices which are Taiwan and Australia, but we took a risk with Australia even though we don’t have visas yet. My husband even called Mabuhay Miles while he was in Jakarta so we spent thousands on that international call because we had no idea about a toll-free number. But at the end of the day, we were still happy because even though we added the phone bill, mura pa rin yung airfare namin, kapresyo lang ito ng Davao trip ko.

After purchasing our plane ticket, I bought our travel insurance and started searching about “How to Apply for Australian Tourist Visa” in the Philippines.

Two months before our flight, we booked our hotel and I chose Hyde Park Inn because of the good reviews, location and it has its own kitchen.

When I applied for our visa, this is my submitted itinerary

Day 1: Manila to Sydney Flight
Day 2: Explore Chinatown
Day 3: Sydney Tour
Day 4: Bondi Tour
Day 5: Blue Mountain
Day 6: Taronga Zoo + Luna Park
Day 7: Sydney to Manila

But during our trip, there are a few changes. We did not go to Chinatown anymore because we discovered that there were few tourist spots that we could visit near our hotel. We no longer visited Luna Park because we were so tired already.

Day 1: Manila to Sydney Flight

On the day of our trip, our internet connection was fixed after one week of no connection so I was cramming. This was the only time that I purchased our tour tickets via Klook. I printed our vouchers and off we went to NAIA. We checked in, ate dinner, and waited for our flight. The flight is on time.

Sydney Big Bus Hop-On Hop-Off Sightseeing Tours (Open-Top) - Essential Ticket 48hrs
Taronga Zoo and Sydney Harbour Hopper Ticket - 1-Day Hopper Pass with Taronga Zoo Entry
Blue Mountains Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus Pass with optional Scenic World Tickets - Lyrebird Pass

As of this writing, I couldn’t find the exact links of the activities I purchased and Klook is giving me these options.

Manila to Sydney 8 hrs and 35 mins

After 8 hours of traveling, we arrived at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport; we went to immigration, got our luggage, and went to customs. Then we went straight to the Airport Train Station and purchased our Opal Card here.

We went to Hyde Park Inn to drop our luggage, ate lunch, and went back to the hotel for check-in. We took a rest and started to explore the tourist spots near the hotel or Museum Station like Hyde Park, Anzac Memorial, Australian Museum, St. Mary’s Cathedral, and from afar, we can see the Sydney Tower.

I purchased a Big Bus Tour Sydney Hop On Hop Off ticket via Klook. This tour has 2 routes, Sydney Route and Bondi Route so I bought the 48-hour ticket to cover the two routes.

For Day 3, we traveled to Circular Quay via train, and from the train station we just walked to the Big Bus. The duration of the Sydney Tour is 1 hour and forty-five minutes so we enjoyed the view while listening to the pre-recorded commentary.

After the tour, we ate snacks and started our walking tour at the Sydney Opera House and Botanic Garden. Dito pa lang ubos na energy namin.

Day 4 was another Hop On Hop Off Tour and we took the blue route which is the Bondi Tour. The first bus started at Central Station but we did not go there and just waited at the Australian Museum bus stop.

Australian Museum is a few minutes walk from our hotel so while waiting for 9:45AM, we visited Hyde Park, Hyde Barracks, and St. Mary’s Cathedral.

The Bondi Tour duration is 1 hour and 30 minutes, there are 14 stops but we are only interested in Bondi Beach. We explored the beach, ate lunch, and waited for the bus so we could go back to Sydney.

We went back to our hotel for a quick rest then we went back to the Australian Museum Bus Stop so we could continue our Hop On Hop Off tour. We explored Darling Harbour Tourist Spots.

We woke up early because we needed to be at the Central Station before 6:23AM. We wanted to ride the first train going to Katoomba Station. Travel time is 2 hours.

I purchased the Lyrebird Pass which includes the Hop On Hop Off Bus and Scenic World Tickets. We had unlimited rides on the Scenic Skyway, Scenic Railway, Scenic Cableway, and Scenic Walkway.

I purchased the Taronga Zoo + Hopper Cruise ticket so we had a Taronga Zoo ticket, Round Trip Ferry Transfers, and 1 Day Access to Manly-Watsons Bay Ferry. We traveled to Circular Quay and walked to Wharf 6, this is where we are going to claim our ticket and ride our ferry.

After exploring the zoo, we took advantage of the Hopper Cruise Tickets so we were able to visit Manly and Watson’s Bay.

Since this would be our last time to tour, we spent more time in the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge before we went back to our hotel.

Our Sydney to Manila flight was so early so after our breakfast, we checked out and traveled to the airport via train. Late nag-open ang check-in counter so natagalan kami sa pagcheck-in at sa Immigration. Nagmamadali kami sa pagkain ng lunch and pagbili ng last minute pasalubong. Nakakastress yung pauwi namin, parang kulang sa oras.

Sydney to Manila 8 hrs and 15 mins

Even though our last day was kind of stressful, I can still say that our Sydney Australia trip was a stress-free trip, why? We did not get lost. We were able to go from point A to point B without asking for directions. We did not miss rice because there was an Asian restaurant near our hotel. Our room has a kitchen so we were able to save money on food. The voucher tickets that I purchased saved me time in doing our itinerary.

Sydney seems cashless society because some stores and restaurants do not accept cash. Good thing that our credit card did not fail us. Prior to our trip my husband went to the bank to buy Australian Dollars pa for our pocket money na hindi rin naman pala namin magagamit.Well, ginastos ko yung iba to buy pasalubong.

And because of our stress-free trip, we planned to go back to Australia and visit another state. If money is not an issue, for sure nakabalik na kami kasi may valid visa pa kami kaso no budget pa. Hehehe!

Australia is the third continent that I have visited.
