Hello December, they say it is the most wonderful time of the year but for me, it is the most stressful month. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas Holidays but I just feel that there are so many things that I like to do and finish before the year ends. It just so happened that I enrolled in another course so life became swamped with lessons again. My head is aching because of too much information but I’m hoping that I can manage everything.
As of this writing, our Christmas tree is not up yet and I don’t know if we will put one or not. There are Christmas Parties and get-together invitation from left to right. I’m contemplating which one will I say yes and which one will I say no because I am not a superwoman so I can’t say yes to everything. Lastly, my Christmas gift list is almost finished since I started buying gifts early but those gifts are still waiting to be wrapped. Hehehe!
Speaking of gifts, are you done with your Christmas list? If not you can add this to your gift ideas. This is a nice gift if you have kids, nieces, nephews or godchildren from 0-10 years old. It is a personalized book where your child is a star. Yes, your kid is the main character of the story.
If you remember, I bought the “Super Duper Birthday Party” book when my son was 7 years old. We are still keeping the book as a birthday souvenir too. You can check my review here. How I wish, I bought another book like “Magical Christmas Adventure”. Sayang, my son is already a tween. Anyway, there are more books that you can choose from.
My Magical Christmas Adventure
Super Duper Birthday Party
Underwater Adventure
My Great Space Race for Boys or for Girls
Look Who’s a Big Brother or Big Sister
The Crowning of a Fairy Princess
A Super Hero Saves The Day or A Super Heroine Saves
The Day
My Book of Nursery Rhymes
Welcome to the World
What I like in this personalized book is you can check each pages so you will get an idea of the flow of the story, the look of each pages and how can you personalize the book. You can do a book tour on their website.
Aside from the personalized books, you can also order personalized coloring books, wrapping paper, wall art, placemats, notebooks, folded notecards, flat notecards, gift labels, wall clocks. One more thing, they offer worldwide shipping. For more information check the link.

Rubber Stamps
When your kids are in preschool or grade 1 level, you will notice that teachers love to stamp their notebooks, books, artwork, or any school work in school. We feel happy if we see Very Good or Good stamps. But I notice paulit-ulit lang stamps nila.
I’ve been looking for rubber stamps because it is a nice gift for teachers on Teacher’s Day or Christmas. So when I searched where I can buy this, I saw one post na sa Divisoria meron. Waah! It is too far, mas mahal pa siguro gastos ko kaysa sa bibilhin ko. Hehehe!
Then my friend suggested an online store but when I checked the site, the Teacher’s Rubber Stamp is not available (out of stock). Good thing I saw these rubber stamps at SM Department Store and I was happy because it is cheaper. If I remember it right, it is more or less P120.
This was my gift to his teachers last Christmas and natuwa ko after the Christmas break, nagamit na nila. Oh di ba, may iba na sila choices na rubber stamps. Now, I’m still thinking what to give this year since hindi na mahilig magstamp ang mga teacher sa Grade 2. The custom rubber stamps are also a nice gift but it is too expensive for my budget, 7 ang teachers ng anak ko. Hehehe!

If you have family, relatives, or friends who are into crafts, the alphabet stamps are also nice. I bought one for myself too. I bought it at SM Department store too, I just can’t remember the price.
I don’t have a number stamp set yet so next in line yun. Aside from that, I also want a self-inking stamp. :)

Shopping at The Candy Shop Prints
There are online sellers that sell nice products that I like but when I check the payment method, there is no Paypal or Credit Card Option so I will not place an order. I dislike going to the bank just to pay for my order because I need to spend money for transportation, sometimes there is an additional P50 bank fee and of course, I hate the long lines in the bank.
2014
Two years ago, I learned that "The Candy Shop Prints” accepts Paypal and Credit Card payment so I did not have second thoughts. I’ve been meaning to have my own contact card just like any bloggers. Though I’m not really active in attending events because of my location and I have to prioritize my son but maybe someday I can use it. #atleastiamready
So for my first order, I ordered my Contact Cards, Memo Cards and Note Cards. I received a payment form and paid it via credit card without a service charge. After few days, I received the soft proof and I approved it. I finally received my order in less than one week after my approval.
2015
It was a smooth transaction so last year, I ordered Note Cards, Money Envelopes and Gift Tags for gifts and of course for my personal use. This time I used Paypal payment method. After my credit card was hacked, I tried to avoid using it online.
Read: My Credit Card was Hacked
One thing I like in The Candy Shop Prints is, It doesn’t charge client “Paypal fee”. I ordered in other online sellers and I have to pay extra because I chose Paypal.
2016
This year because Christmas is near, I ordered Note Cards, Money Envelopes and Gift Tags. This time maaga na so I can prepare early for the holidays. I had a problem with my Paypal so I have to deposit my payment. I’m thinking if I should activate the Transfer to Anyone feature in BPI mobile app so I don’t have to go to the bank anymore. What do you think?
Read: Why I Can’t Use my Paypal Balance?
I ordered last October 12, 2016 and I received my order October 27, 2016. Yes, it takes time because they will only process the order once payment is made, you need to wait for the soft proof for approval and then the printing process. The delivery time depends on your location, whether within Metro Manila or outside NCR. So if you are planning to order for the holiday, do it as early as possible.
Update 2017: They no longer send soft proof after your payment. They will process your order, print, and ship the product after your payment.

Gift Giving Philosophy
Christmas is fast approaching and we only have two weeks from now to prepare for the season. Honestly, I haven’t finished my list yet even I started buying gifts since last month. I just could not find time to go to the mall and buy everything that I need, nakakapagod din. Maybe next year, I will start my shopping as early as October. Hehehe!
For the last few years, I’ve been following this gift giving philosophy in choosing gifts for my son. It really helps me in buying gifts.
Something they want...
This is very easy because my son will always tell me his wants so I just take note everything so he can get it on his birthday or Christmas. But I don’t really buy everything on his list, of course, it still depends on our budget.
Something they need...
I buy something that I think my son needs but it is not in his “want list”. Just like his 7th birthday. I feel that he needs to replace his rubber shoes but he is not asking for it. You can also buy things for his hobbies, school or everyday need.
Something to wear...
I buy clothes, shoes, watches, jewelry or anything that he can wear. This is easy because every year, we really buy clothes for him kasi mabilis lumaki.
Something to read...
My son is not fond of reading books but I want him to like books so I make sure that he will read a book before going to bed except for days that we are not at home. Last year, I gave him 365 bedtime stories so he has no excuse not to read a book. This year, I bought Children’s Bible Stories.
Every year, I buy 3 gifts so I just choose from this gift-giving philosophy. One from my daddy, one from mommy and one from Wowa since my mom sends cash gift and I will be the one to buy. Care to share your gift-giving philosophy.

Super Duper Birthday Party Personalized Book
I’ve been checking Look It’s About Me site for the last two years because I wanted to order a personalized book for my son. But my son is not a bookworm so I’m not really sure if he will like this book. The price is expensive for my budget so I want to make sure that it is worth it.
Finally, last month I saw their 15% off promo so I decided to order a “Super Duper Birthday Party” book for his 7th birthday. I placed the order last September 19, 2015 and I’m hoping that it will be delivered before his birthday. I inquired last Oct 1, 2015 regarding the status and they informed me that it was already delivered last September 30, 2015. But unfortunately, it was delivered after my son’s birthday. I don’t know why it took them (Xend) 5 days to deliver the book, Makati to Cavite, ang tagal lang.
Anyway, my son was surprised to see the package after he arrived from school. He liked the book and it is also a great souvenir for his 7th birthday. It is a personalized book so you can see his name “Ethan” on every page of the book.
This is also a nice gift this coming Christmas. Aside from the personalized book, you can order a personalized clock, placemat, card, coloring book, and many more. For more information, just visit their site. You can do a book tour also so you will have an idea of the story, look and feel of the book.

DIY Father’s Day Book
Today is first day of July and just like that, half of the year is over. I was lazy to blog for the past few days and we have no internet connection for almost three days so I know it is late to post this Father’s Day Book.
But since we celebrate Father’s Day every year, you can use this in the future. I was checking Pinterest when I saw this Father’s Day Book printables and I printed it immediately. It is 6 pages book where you can write things about your father.
I let my son write things about his daddy and I just helped him with the spelling.

How Did You Spend Your Valentine’s Day?
Last week I was planning where are we going to celebrate our Valentine’s day because that it also our 12 years anniversary as a couple. But none of my lists materialized. I was thinking to join my husband business trip in Bacolod because we have no classes for 4 days due to “Educational Congress” but since the trip was just overnight it is not practical to spend for plane ticket.
Day before Valentine’s day, I sew drawstring pouch again, this will serve as a treat bag or envelope where my son will put his Valentine’s card. For the last few years, we’ve been receiving cards such as Mother’s Day, Christmas card and Valentine’s card because that is part of my son’s school/summer class activity but since we have no classes, I know that we won’t be receiving any card so I told my son to make card for his daddy.
After dinner, we painted the drawstring pouch and my son said “Mommy, faster! Daddy is coming home”. Hehehe But my husband texted me that his flight was delayed so I know we have more time to prepare.
I printed a card with funny messages and I had a hard time choosing one. In the end, I chose this message “There's nobody I'd rather lay in bed and look at my phone with” It is funny but true, most of the time we will lie in bed side by side and our focus is on our phones. So I told my husband that we should change that.
I also printed this love quest survey and favorite questionnaire, like I said, we’re celebrating our 12 years and many things have changed so it is nice to get to know each other again.
I waited for my husband’s pasalubong/Valentine’s gift and he came past 12AM, just in time for Valentine’s Day so we ate Calea blueberry cheesecake before going to bed. My husband knew that I don’t like flowers so he already stopped giving me flowers.
And because napuyat ako, I was really lazy to go out on Valentine’s Day. My husband wanted to go to Nuvali for the Nightsky Cinema but I chose to stay at home and rest.
There’s nothing special on our Valentine’s day but one thing I like in this celebration is we “Spend less and love more”. We have simple celebration and gift but it is also nice to know more about my husband. I enjoyed reading the love quest survey.

DIY Felt Stuffed Letters
I’ve been meaning to make crafts out of felt cloth but the problem is I don’t know where to buy felt cloth. #boo For years, I’ve been buying fabric for my son’s costume but those stores don’t sell felt cloth. Last month, I asked a blogger friend where she buys felt cloth and she told me I could try at Market Market and Office Warehouse. So when I visited Festival Mall, I went to Office Warehouse and I found felt sheets. Waah! Dun lang pala kita makikita.
Finally I can do felt crafts, I started with felt stuffed letters first since I feel that it is so easy to make. I printed pattern and trace it on felt cloth.
Then I started sewing and stuffing.
Well, this is not easy pala. It took me four hours just to finish five letters.
After I finished my son’s name. He was asking for his second name. Waah! But I should be happy because I know that he likes it so I cut all the letters of his name including surname. Then the following day, I finished everything and maybe because I”m used to it, madali na lang. Imagine I finished 13 letters and wala pa 4 hours. Hehehe! I sew drawstring bag too for the felt stuffed letters.
I gave it to my son and he started using it and then he said, “mommy, where’s the letter C?” Oh no, he was asking for his middle initial. Need talaga complete, so I made letter C and I was praying hard that he won’t ask for “period”.
I’m planning to complete the remaining alphabet letters because this is nice way to teach him spelling. Nice gift too for toddlers.

Christmas Gift Ideas: Food
Christmas is the time of giving and thinking what gift to give is already a challenge especially if the person is not close to us, if the budget is limited or if you think the person has everything.
If I’m having a hard time buying gifts, I always buy food because I know people love to eat. I can make homemade gifts like what I did two years ago but I was busy as a bee this year so I just bought gifts. Sharing with you the gifts that I bought this year that won’t hurt your pocket. A gift that you can give to teachers, classmates, school services or officemates to show your thoughtfulness.
I saw this M&M box when we went to Subic Duty-Free after our Zoobic Safari trip. I find it so cute so I bought a few pieces. I printed this M&M Christmas poem which I pinned years ago. Click here to download
“As you hold these candies in your hand and turn them, you will see the M becomes a W, an E and then a 3.
E is for the East where the star shone so bright
M is for the manger where the baby Jesus slept at night
3 is for the wise men bearing gifts, with which they came.
W is for worship, Hallelujah! Praise His name”
A pack of kisses and all you have to do is stick a Christmas tag or stickers.
Can of cookies. I printed a tag “Calories don’t count on Holidays! Guilt-free dessert” Click here for the free printables.
You can also buy gifts in Marks & Spencer, you can find a gift for as low as P65 with free wrapping pa (paper bag).
Remember
“May no gift be too small to give, nor too simple to receive, which is wrapped in thoughtfulness and tied with love - LO Baird”

10 Gift Ideas from The Mind Museum
Considering that we celebrate an extended holiday season--starting from the ber months to late January—you would think people would have enough time to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts that are well thought out. That's hardly ever the case, though.
Year after year, people rush to stores at the last minute, grabbing run-of-the-mill mugs, picture frames, toiletries, and what have you. Fun, right? Let's face it; getting an ordinary gift doesn't exactly usher in the spirit of the season. Why not wrap something remarkable?
If your loved ones are that special, you'd think of giving them the stars—something they clearly deserve. You can't exactly give them that, but a close alternative is made possible by The Mind Museum—along with other unique gifts that not only add a twist to your usual holiday flavor, they also inspire learning and further celebrate the season of giving.
1. The Scientific Date: How about a date in an artsy but science-themed gallery, or stargazing in cozy couches in a custom-made planetarium? Surprise your loved ones and the young ones with All Day Passes or gift certificates to The Mind Museum!
With over 250 hands-on, minds-on exhibits and live experiment demonstrations that unveil the remarkable science behind living and non-living things, a date or two in The Mind Museum is definitely a unique and exciting way to spend time together this Yuletide season. (The Mind Museum tickets all day passes is sold for only Php750/php)

Exploring Mind Museum
2. Name the Stars after Your Loved Ones: Do you know that you can literally leave your mark in The Mind Museum by naming one of their virtual exhibits? You can leave your names or your loved ones’ on digital exhibits found in the different galleries in the Museum, through a fixed donation that come with e-certificates. Imagine the delight of seeing your family’s name imprinted on the virtual stars that make up a constellation, or name a specific kind of dinosaur that inhabits a virtual era in history.
What’s more heart-warming is that all proceeds for this program go to supporting the institutions’ project of giving free museum visits to public school kids. (Virtual exhibits’ price ranges from Php1,000 to Php5,000, depending on your choice of show. For more information, visit http://exhibits.themindmuseum.org.)
3. The Key to Endless Discovery: A year-round, all-day admission to the first world-class science museum in the country—how does that sound? Interactive exhibits, a thoughtfully designed planetarium, meticulously laid-out 3D shows, and exciting science demonstrations await your lucky gift recipient. The Mind Museum’s Unlimited Science Pass also gives free admission to over 300 worldwide science museums, discounts on travelling exhibition tickets, birthday packages, and purchases inside The Mind Museum Store.
And because the institution always interlinks its efforts with expanding the knowledge of today’s generation, this unli-pass directly supports free museum passes for underprivileged kids. For a group of four or more, avail the Unlimited Science Pass for only Php2,250/pax.
4. All for Science, All for Love: To celebrate the holidays in a different, more meaningful way, why not sponsor a trip for public school kids this Christmas? You can even ask your family or friends to join you in spearheading this project to further enrich the sense of wonder of these young ones. Don’t worry, The Mind Museum’s doors are open to plan and accomplish this advocacy of embracing and sharing the true spirit of the season. (To inquire about this project, please send your email to inquiry@themindmuseum.org.) The Mind Museum is a gallery of endless activities and possibilities so, of course, we have more in The Mind Museum Store for you!
5. If these shirts could talk: Let your friends “wear their wit” with these design shirts that are exclusively available in The Mind Museum Store! Here’s a tip: pair these notebooks with Puzzle Color Pencils and let its colorful tips become their wand to create their DIY-diary. Happy Holidays!

All I Want for Christmas: Thoughtful Gift Ideas for Military Women
Someone has to protect our country during the holidays, and this job falls squarely on the military. It’s no fun being away from family, especially if you’re a woman. But you can make the holidays a little kinder, a little more gentle, by sending a thoughtful gift to a soldier that’s deployed in a strange, far away, country. Here’s what to send.
A Military Ring
A military ring is a ring that features the military branch crest and gemstone. You can order them in either silver or gold, and it’s a symbol of the dedication and pride that every soldier feels for serving in the military. Military Rings for women tend to run a bit smaller than for men, and they’re more feminine. This doesn’t always mean they’re cheaper though. But, if you really want to “wow” someone, send them this.
A Paracord Bracelet
A paracord bracelet is a bracelet that’s made of parachute chord - yes, nylon. It’s the same chord that’s been used in the military since WWII for parachutes. It’s strong. It’s lightweight. It’s great for all kinds of survival situations. This is what soldiers love, even women. Say you’re out in the field, and you need something to help you catch some wild game, or you need something to climb up a tree, or maybe you just want to relax and do a little fishing on your day off - this is what you need.
When not needed, it’s a bracelet. But, it “magically” unravels into a tactical cord that has at least as many uses as baking soda, except that the bracelet is more stylish.
A Teddy Bear
The female soldiers in the civil war would have loved this as a gift had they been able to get their hands on them. A teddy bear might seem a little childish, but most soldiers, even females, tend to feel a little homesick when they’re deployed. This is one of the best ways to make them feel like they have a home, and that someone is thinking about them. It can get pretty lonely over there. At night, it can also get a bit chilly. Having something to snuggle will make life a little bit easier.
A Blanket
While the military does provide blankets, they tend to be very utilitarian and not very “cozy.” Sending a homemade blanket, or even a nice store-bought one can really brighten someone’s day. It doesn’t have to be super-fancy, but try to send something that’s soft, comfortable, and homely.
Remember, many female soldiers carry a stigma with them that brands them as unfeminine. The reality is that they’re like most females. They like feminine things, like soft blankets that make them feel like they’re home instead of being wrapped up in government synthetic materials.
A Pillow
This might sound strange, but nice pillows aren’t a common thing if you’re deployed. You get the standard-issue pillow, and that thing isn’t comfortable. It’s cheap. Sending a fluffy pillow, or something that feels like it’s from home will make just about any soldier’s day. Helen Moser loves to send things to our troops overseas, especially during the holidays. An avid writer, she likes to give people creative ideas for supporting the military. You can find her interesting posts on many blog sites today.

Teacher’s Day Gift
Teacher’s Day is just an ordinary day for me when I was a student, in fact, I can’t even remember if I ever gave a gift to my teachers. I just always think na baka sabihin sipsip ako so I don’t give anything. But when I became a mom and started tutoring my son, I realized how hard it is to be a teacher.
I started giving small gifts to my son’s teacher when he was in Nursery to show our appreciation for teaching our son. I give chocolates or school supplies. Yesterday, I just put some school supplies and card in a box, wrapped them, and put a sticker.
Happy Teacher's Day!

Why Artwork Makes Great Gifts
Are you
looking for a unique gift for a loved one, a co-worker, or someone that is hard
to buy for? If so, you may want to consider making a custom artwork purchase. Artwork,
like the prints sold by Mimi's Muses, makes great gifts for all occasions. Not
sold on the idea of artwork? Well, keep reading to learn three reasons why
original artwork is an excellent gift idea.
Artwork Is a Gift for All Occasions
Original artwork is something that is suitable for all types
of occasions. It can be bought as a Christmas gift or a wedding present.
Artwork can be purchased for Mother's Day or even as a Valentine's Day present.
There really isn't a wrong time to give the gift of art. All that matters is
that thought went into the purchase. Regardless of the reason for gifting a
piece of art, it is important that you keep in mind the personality of the
person you are purchasing the piece for so you don't end up buying an abstract
painting for someone who prefers traditional styles.
Artwork Is Versatile
When you think of artwork, what is the first image that pops
into your mind? Is it a gallery with paintings adorning the walls? While this
type of artwork can make a fabulous gift, it isn't always affordable. This is
why it is better to think outside of the box when considering artwork as a
gift. There are a number of creative ways to give the gift of art. For example,
do you have children? If so, you may want to consider having their original
artwork printed on a tote bag for Mother's Day or on a tie for dad on Father's
day. Artwork can also be displayed on mugs, journals, notebooks, magnets, and a
plethora of other novelty items that make receiving artwork a memorable
experience.
Artwork Is Personal
If you take your time selecting a piece of art for a loved
one or even for an acquaintance, the gift will feel more personal than the
go-to gift card or cash. When shopping for artwork at places like Mimi's Muses, there are plenty of opportunities to find a personal gift that your loved one
or friend will treasure for many, many years.

Do Holiday Cookies Create Obligations?
Christmas time is a time for a lot of festive activities, and
they’re all aimed at spreading joy and the spirit of the season. Some of these
activities involve the giving of delicious baked goods; many a cookie delivery
has been made in the name of the holiday season. However, some people claim
that receiving a baked gift on your doorstep creates a feeling of obligation
rather than joy. Now that they’ve received a gift, they feel obligated to
reciprocate. So, should we all stop giving gifts to prevent others from feeling
obligated to return the favor?
Givers
The givers, those who are responsible for the sweet deliveries,
seldom expect anything in return. Their intentions may not be entirely
selfless, they may want to feel better about themselves by helping others, or
they may want to foster good will with their neighbors, but that doesn’t mean
they want a physical gift in return. In most cases, they just want to do
something nice. Sometimes they may even feel obligated to give the gift in
return for something the receiver did for them in the past.
Happy Recipients
Many cookie recipients are more than happy to receive these
types of deliveries. They don’t ask questions, they don’t feel obligated to
return the favor, and best of all, they get to enjoy a guilt-free plate of
cookies that appears out of nowhere. This is the type of response givers
envision when they plan the delivery. This recipient may return the favor or
keep the holiday spirit rolling by doing a favor for yet another individual,
but this is done in a spirit of giving and not obligation.
Reluctant Recipients
So the root of this obligation problem lies with those few
reluctant recipients. They may feel like the giver is expecting reciprocation,
but in most cases this simply isn’t true. It’s one thing to refuse a large gift
that costs hundreds of dollars, but cookies, brownies, fruitcakes, and holiday
breads are nothing to fret over. So, if you’re planning a cookie delivery, don’t let the few
reluctant recipients spoil your small act of service. And, if you’re the
recipient, you don’t have to feel obligated to do anything but enjoy the
treats.
