School Field Trip 2019

Since last year my son kept on telling me that he will join his Field Trip on February and I kept on persuading him not to join his field trip because his daddy will have a business trip on that month. Mahirap magcommute ng madaling araw at gabi and we can visit those places naman kahit hindi field trip.

Then last month, the school gave the Field Trip form and when I read the itinerary, I still convinced my son not to join because I find the fee expensive, PHP1790. Ang mahal para sa Kidzania at National Museum, free lang naman yung ibang place. I even told him, yung P1790 na yun sobra pa sa Kidzania namin dalawa and whole day pa kami pwede magstay.

Kidzania Manila
National Museum of National History
McKinley Grand Canal - Walking Tour
Shrine of Jesus WTL (again)

But he really wanted to join and my husband wants my son to join too so ako lang naman talaga ang kontrabida sa buhay nila. My husband always tells me, iba ang lakad with classmates at iba ang lakad with family. Good thing that my husband is available on that day so hindi ko na problema maghatid at sundo. So I paid the Field Trip fee bago pa magbago isip ko. Hehehe!

P.S. As of this school year, the chaperone is allowed na if grade 1 to 3 ang bata. Grrr! I’ve been waiting for them to change this policy, ngayon pa talaga binago. Grade 4 na anak ko so hindi ko pwede sumama. Hayz…

Fast forward to his field trip…

Me: Ethan, don’t forget your passport ha.
Ethan: How about my credit card?
Me: ATM lang yun.
Hubby: Bakit may passport pa at card, san punta niyan?
Me and Ethan: Kidzania.

Yes, may passport at ATM sa Kidzania. May driving license pa nga. Hehehe! I allowed my son to bring his smartphone in one condition “Take Photos”. While my husband and I were busy at PTAA Travel Tour Expo, my son sent one group photo at Shrine Of Jesus WTL so I felt happy at naalala ang bilin ko. So in my mind, this time marami na pictures anak ko sa Field Trip compared last year.

But I was wrong, after the field trip he showed me his phone gallery and guess what? Yung group photo lang ang may mukha niya. Puro painting sa National Museum. Waah! Nakalimutan na niya ang lahat ng bilin ko when they went to Kidzania Manila. So for the very first time, wala na siya tagakuha ng photos and videos. They stayed here from 1PM to 5PM and he was able to do 6 activities; Bank, Pit Crew Training Center, Cleaning Energy Center, Century Tuna Marine Research Lab, Driving, and Newswriter.  Check our Kidzania experience here.

Anyway, since Mckinley Grand Canal Tour is part of their itinerary. We decided to pick up our son at Venice Grand Canal Mall. So after our travel expo trip, we went straight to Venice. It was my first time there, so maganda naman pala. I remembered our trip in Venetian Hotel in Macau. There is a gondola ride but it is too expensive for my budget, P400 per person. Waah! Okay na ko sa tingin na lang, hehehe!

There are so many restaurants in Venice Grand Canal Mall and I saw the Isla Sugbu Seafood City and we’re supposed to eat here kaso sa pagod namin, gusto na namin umuwi agad. Maybe next time I can finally try this paluto all you can.

School Field Trip

Two months ago, I received a letter about my son’s field trip and he was hesitant to join because of the no chaperone policy. Last year, he did not join the Field Trip so now, I persuaded him to join kasi sayang naman ang bayad. The Educational Trip fee is included in the tuition so whether you join or not, they will not refund the payment.

Read: When Plan Fails

I was able to persuade my son but when he agreed, I felt nervous because this is the first time that my son will go on a trip without chaperone. Sa dami ng nangyayari sa bansa, I cannot help but be a paranoid mom. One week before the trip, I bought cellphone for my son so I can call or text him.

Read: Where is my Son?

But few days before September 9, they canceled the Field Trip because of the Davao Bombing incident. There are so many bomb threats during that time so just to be sure, they moved the schedule.

Fast forward to yesterday, I took a bath and my son asked me,

Ethan: Mommy, why are you not wearing pambahay?

Me: I will go with you and daddy sa school.

We went to school for my son’s Field Trip. Like I said before, I’m such a paranoid mom so I asked my husband to file a vacation leave so we can follow our son. Bawal chaperone pero pwede naman magconvoy. Hehehe!

Itinerary for the day:

PHILVOCS

Philippine Science Centrum
Manila Boystown
Exploreum

First stop is PHILVOCS, I thought we were so late because we cannot see the bus on the road. Yun pala, mas nauna pa kami nakarating sa bus. And because I was early, I was able to take pictures of the lobby.

They allowed us to enter, maybe because there is no entrance fee in PHIlVOCS. So I was able to watch the video about volcanic eruption, earthquake and tsunami. The videos are very informative, kids will know what are they going to do if there will be a disaster.

Actually, my son was surprised when I called him at PHILVOCS, he did not notice that I was standing in front of him. He has no idea that we will follow him. Hehehe! S-U-R-P-R-I-S-E!!!!!!!

Ethan: Why are you here?

Next stop is Science Centrum, we have visited this place when my son was 2 years old. This is the first field trip that he joined, it was his cousin’s field trip and pwede magsama ng buong pamilya basta magbayad. Lol. We’re not allowed to go inside so no picture, hanggang labas lang ako.

Read: Science Centrum

Entrance Fee

Students and Adults: P130 maximum stay of 1.5 hrs. P60 extra hour thereafter

Senior Citizen with ID: 50% off
Teacher with ID: Free

My husband and I took our lunch while waiting for our son. When my son went out, we told him that we will meet him in MOA. We will not go to Manila Boystown anymore. If you remember my post yesterday, I have a problem with Paypal so I need to go to the bank to deposit my payment.

Read: Why I Can’t Use my Paypal Balance?

And because of that, we’re so early in MOA. We paid our bills, we ate at Paper Moon Tokyo Cafe and napagod na kami sa pag-ikot wala pa rin anak ko. I was texting and calling him but he was not answering. Napaparanoid na naman ang lola niyo. I felt relieved when I saw the bunch of kids walking to Exploreum. Akala ko naiwan na sa boystown anak ko. Hehehe!

Again, hanggang labas lang kami but few minutes before the time. Pinapasok na kami ng guard hanggang dito lang. Hehehe! So I was able to take a picture and video of this. Then I saw my son na, uwian na

Honestly, nakakapagod magconvoy. Parang paparazzi lang ako na buntot ng buntot at picture ng picture pag nakikita ko anak ko. But at least, I have peace of mind that my son is safe. #paranoidmom

Maybe next year, I will not follow him anymore. Maybe... just maybe ... hehehe!

My son went home with 200ml Safeguard Body Wash and pin. Freebies at Exploreum.

Field Trip in Subic

A week before the field trip day, I received a reminder about the field trip itinerary and I was so sad because the field trip is Ocean Adventure. Waah! We have just visited Zoobic Safari and Ocean Adventure last February and sobrang fresh pa sa memories ko. Lol

So I was thinking if we will join the field trip or not because

1. Field trip day is also my son’s birthday.

2. We have just visited the place last February.
3. I wasn’t feeling well due to cold and cough.
4. This is our first trip without Daddy because only 1 chaperone is allowed. I can imagine the stress already.

But I also have to consider these things

1. I already paid this field trip because it is included in the tuition.

2. This is the first field trip of my son in his new school and sabi nga ni hubby, bonding niya with his classmates.
3. This is also the last field trip that I can accompany my son because next year no more chaperone allowed.

So ending, I went to school to pay for chaperone fee. We celebrated my son’s birthday in advance. Check our Mario Birthday Theme here

Still wasn’t feeling well on the day of the field trip + I have a stiff neck pa, but still I accompanied my son. #momsduty Assembly time is 5:30AM and Departure time is 6AM but we left passed 6AM and arrived at Ocean Adventure before 10AM.

A few minutes before we reached the OA, I was surprised when the tour guide said “Let us sing happy birthday to Ethan”. Maybe the teacher remembered his birthday. Something memorable for my son.

I received the ticket and I noticed that the rate is different, I paid P550 before but for educational field trip, the price is only P390.

We went to the Walk on Wide Side Show.

Then Balancing Act with the African Acrobats

We had lunch after the two shows and went back at 12:30nn for Dolphin Tales. We knew that one dolphin named Tonka in marine park died just recently so bawas na yung nagshow.

We did not finish the Dolphin Show because we went to Sea Lion Marine Patrol already so we can have a good seat. For the last three shows kasi lagi panget pwesto namin. Kung hindi sa likod nasa gilid. Lol If you still remember my post about OA, Sea Lion Show is our favorite show.

It was funny because whenever we watch the show, it seems na first time pa rin sa aking anak because in reality, wala naman nagbago sa show. It is the same show that we have watched last February. I was already tired after watching the four shows but we still have to go to Duty Free Shops.

Our last stop is San Guillermo Church in Bacolor Pampanga. Honestly, I have no idea about the church so I have to google it. According to wikipedia, “The church was originally constructed by the Augustinian Friars in 1576. In 1880, the church was destroyed by an earthquake only to be rebuilt by Fr. Eugenio Alvarez in 1886. On September 3, 1995, lahar flow from the slopes of Mt. Pinatubo which erupted into world notice on June 15, 1991, buried the church at half its 12-m height prompting its more than 50,000 town residents to evacuate to safer grounds in resettlement areas”

In addition, this is the church where they shoot the “May Bukas Pa” teleserye, remember “Santino”

End of our field trip.

Check out our first trip in Ocean Adventure here and Zoobic Safari here.

Manila Ocean Park

We first visited Manila Ocean Park last February 2009, my son was only four months old during that time. I’ve been meaning to revisit the park again because of the new attractions but it never happened so I was really happy when I saw that Manila Ocean Park is included in my son’s field trip. It was our chance to visit the park again. It’s like a first-time visit for my son, for sure wala siya naalala dati. Hehehe!

Our package includes:

Oceanarium

I don’t see any major changes in the Oceanarium except in this picture. See through na kasi yung aquarium so panget na background namin. Before fishes ang background, now you can see tables and chairs.

Sharks and Ray Dry Encounter

This is one thing that I look forward to experiencing but I was disappointed because no pictures allowed and sila lang pwede magpicture, of course you have to pay. We were able to touch the stingray but no souvenir picture.

Back of the House

There is nothing special about this place, they will just inform you and show you how they maintain the aquarium, from cleaning the water, breeding the fish and others.

Jellies Exhibit

A small room where you can see different types of jellyfish.

Shark Anatomy

The last part of our itinerary is Shark Anatomy, I thought they would discuss sharks but we ended up watching a magic show.

Comparing my first and last experiences, I enjoyed the first visit because it was not crowded, and no time pressure.

Gardenia Plant Tour

We are indeed frequent buyer of Gardenia bread so when I’ve learned that it is included in my son’s field trip; I became excited because I wanted to see how they make our favorite bread. I love plant tour, when I was still in elementary we visited Yakult and Coca-Cola Plant na sobrang nag-igib kami ng coke using our Coleman. Actually, Gardenia Plant is one tollgate away from our place, it is so near but I haven’t visited.

The Plant Tour started with a film showing explaining the brief history of Gardenia Bread and how it is made. We were seated beside the marshall amplifiers at musicians friendshall amplifiers at musicians friend and LCD TV.

After that we went to the production area where we can see the whole process from handling, mixing, proofing, baking, slicing and packaging of the bread. Taking pictures are not allowed.

Our last stop is the bread store where we can buy Gardenia bread at factory price. You can see classic white bread, healthy-licious bread, flavor-licious bread, bunch of bun, crunchy-licious toasts and snack line.

Of course photo-op. Oh I love Gardenia.

Trivia:

1. Gardenia’s roots go back to Singapore where it began as a humble in-store bakery in 1978.
2. From Singapore, it expanded its operations in Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines.
3. Gardenia Philippines started its full operations in 1998.
4. The first to introduce G-lock in its packaging.
5. The first to introduce 2 in 1 concept – the Gardenia Double Delights.

Alice in Wonderland

We must admit that watching stage plays is not our thing nowadays, especially for our kids who just wanted to watch cartoons and Disney movies or just play video games. I do watch stage plays when I was still in school because it is one of the school requirements but of course, when I graduated, no more stage plays. So it’s been a decade since the last time I watched.

Well, last Tuesday we had a chance to watch a stage play in Repertory Philippines. Alice in Wonderland is one of the itineraries of my son’s field trip. Cameras are not allowed inside and no picture-taking during the stage play. Unlike other stage plays that I’ve watched, Alice in Wonderland is like an interactive play; they asked questions and even requested the audience to sing along. “I’m mad, you’re mad, we’re all mad here”.

Honestly, I’m not really familiar with Alice's story, all I know is lumaki at lumiit siya. Hehehehe! Anyway, Alice in Wonderland is a story of her incredible journey into a different world where she meets the most surprising set of wild characters.

I was a little bit disappointed because of the limited time of picture taking. Hindi ka pa nakakalapit sa stage, tapos na.

I was wondering, what kind of speaker they are using for the play because the sound is clear and very detailed which makes the music play so good.

Date of Performances:
August 17 to December 12, 2013

Venue:
Onstage Theatre
2nd Floor, Greenbelt Mall 1
Paseo de Roxas St., Makati City

Snow World

Last stop of field trip is Snow World at Star City. We decided to go to Snow World first before anything else. We have our own jacket plus the Snow world jacket but it is still not enough to keep us warm. It is really cold inside and my son is not moving at all so after taking a picture my mom and I decided to leave immediately.

Gadgets are not allowed inside, so we have no choice but to avail the service of the official photographer inside. The cost of this picture is P100.

Avilon Zoo

After Science Centrum, we went to Avilon Zoo in Rizal. It is the largest zoo in the Philippines. The place is really far, it took us more than 2 hours to get there from Marikina. It was really a long, bumpy and winding road travel.

Visitors can interact with animals or feed them and even take some pictures for a minimal fee.

It is better if you bring your own baon because there is no other nearby restaurant except for the restaurant inside the Zoo. The place is really big; don’t forget to bring cap or umbrella, water to keep you hydrated and extra clothes. It took us more than 2 hours just to tour the place.
