Books I’ve Read in Year 2023

Happy New Year! It’s the 4th day of the year 2024 but I am just starting to reflect on what happened to me in the year 2023. As usual, I am always late when it comes to this thing but at least, nagagawa ko pa rin. Hehehe!

No more Christmas tree and decorations in our house para maka move forward na tayo sa holiday. To start, I will share the 4 books that I finished last year. This is better compared to the year 2022 because I finished one book in one quarter.

1. You Belong by Belong Tour
2. A Generous Life: 10 Steps to Living a Life Money Can’t Buy by David Green with Bill High
3. Life is a Gift: Treasure Each Day by Ellen Banks Elwell
4. Unwrapping the Greatest Gift “ A Family Celebration of Christmas” by Ann Voskamp

The “Unwrappping the Greatest Gift” is the last book that we’ve read. Yes, this is an Advent book so my son and I read this book from Dec 1 to Dec 25. It is a nice book and I got it from my mom during our last visit to Norway but it was only last year that I remembered it. Hirap talaga kapag nakatago lang ang mga books. Anyway, I plan to reread this every December.

Growing Older and Nearing Home

When I hit my 40s, I won't deny that there are times that I feel nervous or scared because it seems that I am nearing my senior year. I can't help but ask, do I still have more time to do what I want in life? Do I still have more energy to travel? Can I still eat the food that I love? Am I physically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually prepared for my retirement years?

Speaking of growing older and nearing home, I would like to share the movie that I recently watched and a book that I've read about nearing home.

A Man Called Otto

Just this week, we watched "A Man Called Otto", it is a film adaptation of “A Man Called Ove” novel. This is a comedy-drama film starring Tom Hanks. He played Otto Anderson; a 63-year-old widower and retired man who lives in suburban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After his retirement, he felt that he no longer has a purpose in life so he planned to end his own life but his attempts were always interrupted by his neighbors.

This movie shows the struggles, challenges, or problems that we may face as we grow older. When that time comes, do we feel useless? Ineffective? Bored? Depressed? Whatever we feel, it is not a reason to feel hopeless, and let us remind ourselves that “God has a reason why we are still alive”

Billy Graham Nearing Home

Two years ago, I’ve read the book “Billy Graham Nearing Home” and according to his book, the best way to meet the challenges of old age is to prepare for them now, before they arrive. He said that growing older was not something to be denied or dreaded; it was to be embraced as part of God’s plan for our lives.

I always pray that I will reach old age because I have so many things that I want to do, so many places I want to visit and of course, I want to see my future grandchildren. I just hope that when I am old, I won’t be a grumpy old woman.

I will share my Top 11 quotes from Billy Graham Nearing Home book.

“The gift of old age is remembrance”

“Enjoy life - it has an expiration date”

“We should never get too old to learn or too old to smile”

“As long as we are still breathing, we are leading the way”

“Retirement should not put us on the shelf. We should use this time in our lives to rest from our labors but lift up others who are carrying heavy loads”

“Loneliness, loss of purpose, depression, feelings of worthlessness, anxiety, fear of the future - there and a host of other emotions are common among retirees”

“Look for the Lord’s purpose in every circumstance and in every face or voice you encounter daily, for the time He has given you is not without purpose”

“Retirement isn’t something that just happens if you live long enough, and it isn’t even a reward for your years of hard work; it is a gift from God”

“One day you may not be able to do everything you once did or everything you would like to do. Instead of feeling guilty or frustrated or resentful, however, thank God that you can still do some things - and make it your goal to do them faithfully and do them well”

“Life is seldom easy as we grow older - but old age has its special joys - the joy of time with family and friends, the joy of freedom from responsibilities we once had, and the joy of savoring the little things we once overlooked”

"People either seem to get better or to get bitter as they grow older"

Books I’ve Read in Year 2022

My goal of reading 12 books in a year was a failure because I was busy traveling, crafting, and watching Korean series. Although I still read books but I was not able to finish those books. I don’t know why, but I feel that I am having a hard time reading small letters, parang effort sa pagbabasa. Kapapalit ko pa lang naman ng eyeglasses ng last quarter of 2021 so hindi ko talaga maintindihan.

Just this month, I went back to my eye doctor and now I know why, I need reading eyeglasses na pala. Waah! This is really a sign of aging, now I need to use two eyeglasses or progressive eyeglasses. I chose the progressive eyeglasses and hopefully, it would resolve my reading concerns. I’m still waiting for my new eyeglasses.

If I finished 16 books in year 2021, I only finished three books for the year 2022. It was funny because I finished these books when I was in Norway for three months. I still read books pero hindi ko natatapos but I’m pushing myself to go back to reading, sayang kasi yung books na mga binili ko. Hehehe!

1. Simple Living for Busy People “God’s Guide to Enjoying What Matters Most” by CLC
2. Simple Living for You “God’s Guide to Enjoying What Matters Most” by CLC
3. Jesus Calling for Moms by Sarah Young

My son finished two books, he read these books when we were in Norway too.

1. God Has Big Plans for Me by Rick Warren
2. How Great is Our God by Louie Giglio

Books I’ve Read in Year 2021

There was a point in my life when I love to read inspirational books. I buy books especially when it is on sale. Unfortunately, I stopped buying and reading books when I became hooked on Korean Drama series. Ang dami ko ng napanood na Korean Drama and feeling ko yun na lang laman ng utak ko so when pandemic started I forced myself to read books again. Hehehe!

I started buying ebooks and books when there is a sale. My husband gifted me a Kindle Paperwhite too last year so pressure lalo na magbasa. My goal is to read at least one book per month so 12 books in one year. And so far, naachieve ko naman siya last year, though yung ibang books kasi dito, maninipis lang and may pangkids din. But I still feel happy because I was able to read books again.

I will highlight those books that I like for the year 2021 and if I have time, I will blog my favorite books in a separate post.

1. M.O.T.I.V.A.T.E 8 Secrets to Successful Parenting by Peter Tan-Chi and Deonna Tan-Chi
2. Keep Going by Austin Kleon
3. Nearing Home by Billy Graham
4. Your Business, Your Rules by Cat LeBlanc
5. Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon
6. Walt Disney by Hourly History
7. Isdaman - The Little Filipino Hero by Mark Bacera
10. Ang Allowance na Hindi Bitin by Ardy Roberto and Philip Roa
11. Ang Pera na Hindi Bitin by Ardy Roberto
13. How to Keep Your Hubby Happy by Marlene Legaspi-Munar
15. Your Passport to Heaven by Randy Alcorn
16. Facing Illness, Finding Peace by Nancy Groves

I also encouraged my son to read some books and he finished reading

2. Add Mo Ko as Friend: Your link to Real Relationship by Marlene Legaspi-Mumar
3. Ang Allowance na Hindi Bitin by Ardy Roberto and Philip Roa
4. Papunta Pa Lang Kami (Pabalik na Kayo) by Ronald Molmisa

“Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people – people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.” - E.B. White

I still have a lot of unfinished books from last year and I hope I can finish them before the end of the year 2022. :)

Add Mo Ko As Friend: Your Link to Real Relationships Book

We live in a digital age and there are so many available networking sites out there. I have different social media accounts that I use for personal or business but I don’t introduce social media to my son. I try to delay it so he won’t waste his time on them. But last year when he started his online class I have no choice but to create his own Facebook account so he can join his school’s Facebook page and classroom group chat.

So far my son is not into social media and when I checked his Facebook account, 14 friends pa lang, more on family lang. Since last year, he did not post anything pa. Now that he is on summer vacation, hindi ko na rin nakikita na online siya sa FB. I don’t know until when na hindi siya maFacebook but I hope he will use social networking sites in a good way.

Last month, I bought this book Add Mo Ko As Fried: Your Link to Real Relationships by Marlene Legaspi-Mumar during OMF Mid Year Sale. This book will teach you how to use SNS, how to be a good offline and online friend, how to understand introvert and extrovert people, and more.

The book is easy to read and you can finish it in one sitting so it is still a good buy even for those who are not "book lovers" like my son. My son is not really into reading books but I still pressure him to read books para hindi siya puro Netflix or Nintendo Switch na lang. We already finished reading this and sharing some quotes that I like from the book.

A friend is someone who is there for you when he’d rather be anywhere else.

If a man does not make new acquaintances through life, he will soon find himself alone. A man should keep his friendships in constant repair. - Samuel Johnson

Christmas Gift Ideas for Kids: Personalized Books

Hello December, they say it is the most wonderful time of the year but for me, it is the most stressful month. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas Holidays but I just feel that there are so many things that I like to do and finish before the year ends. It just so happened that I enrolled in another course so life became swamped with lessons again. My head is aching because of too much information but I’m hoping that I can manage everything.

As of this writing, our Christmas tree is not up yet and I don’t know if we will put one or not. There are Christmas Parties and get-together invitation from left to right. I’m contemplating which one will I say yes and which one will I say no because I am not a superwoman so I can’t say yes to everything. Lastly, my Christmas gift list is almost finished since I started buying gifts early but those gifts are still waiting to be wrapped. Hehehe!

Speaking of gifts, are you done with your Christmas list? If not you can add this to your gift ideas. This is a nice gift if you have kids, nieces, nephews or godchildren from 0-10 years old. It is a personalized book where your child is a star. Yes, your kid is the main character of the story. If you remember, I bought the “Super Duper Birthday Party” book when my son was 7 years old. We are still keeping the book as a birthday souvenir too. You can check my review here. How I wish, I bought another book like “Magical Christmas Adventure”. Sayang, my son is already a tween. Anyway, there are more books that you can choose from.

My Magical Christmas Adventure
Super Duper Birthday Party
Underwater Adventure
My Great Space Race for Boys or for Girls
Look Who’s a Big Brother or Big Sister
The Crowning of a Fairy Princess
A Super Hero Saves The Day or A Super Heroine Saves
The Day My Book of Nursery Rhymes
Welcome to the World

What I like in this personalized book is you can check each pages so you will get an idea of the flow of the story, the look of each pages and how can you personalize the book. You can do a book tour on their website.

Aside from the personalized books, you can also order personalized coloring books, wrapping paper, wall art, placemats, notebooks, folded notecards, flat notecards, gift labels, wall clocks. One more thing, they offer worldwide shipping. For more information check the link.

Donate a Book; Share the Joy of Reading

Donate a Book is one of the projects of #SMShareMovement and I think it’s been years already that I’ve been seeing this every Back to School season but I’ve never donated my son’s books. I always keep my son’s school books for future use. And if I feel that he no longer needs it, I will give it to family or friends.

But I think they never used my son’s books din kasi nakita ko na nakatambak din siya and nabaha na nga lang so I stopped giving my son’s books so from Grade 1 to Grade 4, nakatambak siya sa house. When I went to SM, I saw “Donate a Book” project again but since I was busy for my back to school preparation, hindi ko siya naasikaso.

Then last weekend, I saw one FB post, she donated 57 books and got 57 coupons so it means, one coupon per book. And because of that, I decided to give it a try so we went to SM Sta Rosa to donate my son’s books. I only bring Grade 1 books para hindi naman mabigat dalhin. Good thing I did that because we still looked for the staff pa kasi wala tao sa booth. So imagine kung ilang books ang dala ko habang naghahanap ng staff, ang bigat lang.

I thought I will get one coupon per book but I was wrong. The staff informed me na kapag may sulat na daw yung book, per bundle daw. So 5 books = 1 coupon so in the end, I only got two P50 Off Coupon. Imagine I spent P7000+ for this set of books and P100 na lang value niya after gamitin. But of course, it is better than nothing. Wala naman ko nakuha sa Nursery to Kinder books na pinamigay ko din. Hehehe! At least may pakunswelo si SM sa pagdonate mo, nakatulong ka sa ibang bata and nabawasan ka ng tambak sa bahay mo.

But keep in mind that there are terms and conditions in using the coupon. P50 Off Coupon with a minimum of P500 single-receipt purchase of regular-priced items from the SM Store’s Stationery Department Store.

1. Can only be redeemed on regular priced SM Stationery items from the SM store. May 20, 2019 - July 07, 2020.
2. Offer is not in conjunction with other ongoing promos or discounts.
3. Only one dicount coupon may be used per transaction.
4. Folded, crumpled or stapled savings coupons may still be accepted by the SM Store given that bar codes are not encroached and security features are still intact.
5. Must be surrendered to the cashier upon redemption.

I already used my one coupon and I still have one coupon pa, next time na lang pag worth P500 na yung bibilhin ko. Next year, I will donate our Grade 2 school books naman.

Book Review: From Depressed to Determined: A 6 Step Guide to Thrive and Have Personal Success

We cannot deny that life is series of ups and downs, I’m pretty sure that once in our life, we feel sad or empty. Being down from time to time is normal but if the feelings already affect your daily routine, you don’t enjoy life or worst you want to end your life; you need to seek help.

Depression is not equal to sadness it is much more than that. Some people say that they feel so empty, helpless, or lifeless. There are signs and symptoms of depression that you need to watch out for if you are feeling suicidal, you really need to ask for help and support.

I won’t go into details about depression but I just want you to know that life is a gift to be enjoyed, don’t give up because the best is yet to come. I cannot say that I’ve experienced depression but I admit that I felt sad and empty before, yung feeling na I’m just existing but not living the life that I want.

I felt that when I resigned from my job and became a full-time mom, I have no salary and career. I did not dream to be a homemaker but now I no longer work. Sad at first but I have to remind myself

“Sometimes you may not end up where you want to be, but you will end up where God wants you to be”.

So if you are feeling sad, I do recommend you read this book “From Depressed to Determined - A 6 Step Guide to Thrive and Have Personal Success” by Viviene Bigornia

This book will give you the step by step guide on how you are going to end the sadness and at the same time learn how to achieve your dreams and goals in life. What I like in this ebook is “Your Turn”, there are activities that you need to do in order to apply the 6 steps. An activity that will help you to understand yourself and write down your thoughts, wants, and goals in life. There are activities that will encourage you to do more and stay motivated.

Sharing with you some points that inspire and motivate me...

“Set your mind to success and believe in the very core of your being that it is possible to achieve your dreams.”

“You need to visualize the kind of life that you want”

“Learning from someone who already took the path you want to take is the best shortcut you can ever make”

“Success doesn’t come and find you, you have to go out and get it”

Book Review: How to Earn Unlimited Income Even While You Sleep

I’m pretty sure that all of us wanted to earn unlimited income while we sleep, but is there such a thing like that? Is it possible to earn while sleeping? It looks so impossible but the truth is, it is possible. Yes, you can earn income even while you sleep and that is called passive income.
What is Passive Income?

Passive income is a kind of income that you gain without working so hard, without making so much effort, and without giving out so much of your time. It allows you to be the boss of your finances, time, and life.

It is very different from active income wherein you have to work 9 hours a day or more in order to receive salary, commissions, or bonuses. If you don’t work, you don’t have an income.

Of course, you will not just sleep in order to earn a passive income because you have to work first. You need to invest time and effort to establish your business or product to gain profit in the long run. Working hard at first and collect income after.

I’m a full-time mom so I don’t have an active income but I earn something through passive income.

1. Guest Post Space

I started this blog without thinking about income. I just really wanted to have my own space where I can share information then after few months, I received opportunities to earn. I consider that a passive income, it may not be a big moolah but at least I earn something to pay for my domain. :)

2. Dividend Investing

If you invested your money in the stock market, you will earn a dividend from the company that you have shares. The amount varies depending on company performance.

3. Take Surveys

I earn by taking surveys, the pay is not really that big because it is not easy to accumulate points but it is still an income. All it needs is a little time to finish the surveys.

These three are examples of earning passive income, I know that it will not make me retire rich so I’m still searching and learning how to increase my passive income. I’m glad I’ve read the Passive Income ebook by Samantha Connor. Click the link below if you want to purchase it.

Passive Income: The Ultimate Guide To Becoming A Money Machine And Have Unlimited Income Even While You Sleep (Passive income, business ideas, make money, income stream Book 1)

I’ve enjoyed reading the book because it gives me more ideas on how to increase my passive income. The ebook is so easy to understand and you can finish it in one sitting. So if you want to learn how to earn additional income, read this ebook. Passive Income ebook will inform you that there are so many ways to earn money even while you sleep.

Learning Filipino with Buribox

When I had my son, I have no idea that I will be having a hard time teaching him the Filipino language. My husband and I speak Filipino in our home while my son is learning The English language because he always watches educational videos so even we talk to him in Tagalog he will not understand so we ended up speaking in English too. #nosebleed

When he started going to school, that is the only time that his Filipino vocabulary increases because of his classmates. We have no problem with school until he reached Kinder Level.

It is really a challenge for us to get good grades in Filipino and Araling Panlipunan subjects. Whenever we study or review these subjects, the calm mom became a monster mom in the end. hehehe! #stressdrilon He dislikes those subjects because he can’t understand all the words and sentences. He is having a hard time composing a sentence in Filipino.

There are limited resources that you can find in the bookstore and even online so I was really happy when I learned about Buribox last year. I was planning to subscribe this summer but thanks to May of fullyhousewifed.com for the invite to try Buribox.

What is Buribox?

Buribox is a monthly subscription box that will help you in developing kids literacy, critical thinking and gross and fine motor skills. It is designed for Filipino child so expect that the materials are bilingual and refer to Filipino culture.

There are 2 subscriptions that you can choose from.

Toddler Buribox P799

Recommended age: 3-5 years old

4-5 New preschool books every month
Multiple activities/worksheets and art materials every month

Young Reader Buribox P799

Recommended age: 6-8 years old

5 New storybooks each month
Multiple activities/worksheets and Art Materials every month

Young Reader Buribox

My son is 7 years old so I subscribed to Young Reader Buribox, I lived outside Metro Manila so I paid P150 for shipping fee via Paypal.

We received our first Buribox last month and my son was really happy with his new stuff. The box includes 5 books, worksheets/activities, and art materials. There is a Parent guide to guide you in the different activities. We started our activity after his periodical test but until now we haven’t finished all the activities because we are so busy with homework and quizzes.

I’m planning to continue my subscription after school year so at least we have something to do this summer. I wish this subscription box is available when my son was still in Preschool years because we have more time. Anyway, if you are homeschooling, if you are looking for additional activities or if you are having a hard time to teach Filipino, try Buribox.

Likes

1. We like Buribox because it is a nice way of teaching Filipino. I like the bilingual books because it makes my life easier in translating the story. The box includes worksheets and activities that will help kids in understanding the story. The art materials are already included in the box.

2. If you want to cancel the subscription, all you need to do is log in and unsubscribe.

Things to Improve

1. The only payment option is Paypal.

2. I hope there is an option for me to put comments regarding my delivery. In other online shopping sites, I can put weekday delivery only. So when they shipped the package last January 15, hindi ako makaalis ng bahay ng weekend waiting for the package. I can’t even track the package because there is no tracking number. Lol I received the package January 19. There is a note of 2 -3 days delivery but I want to make sure that I'm home.

3. Make sure that the activities or worksheets are correct. We’re supposed to receive carabao but we received cat.

Super Duper Birthday Party Personalized Book

I’ve been checking Look It’s About Me site for the last two years because I wanted to order a personalized book for my son. But my son is not a bookworm so I’m not really sure if he will like this book. The price is expensive for my budget so I want to make sure that it is worth it.

Finally, last month I saw their 15% off promo so I decided to order a “Super Duper Birthday Party” book for his 7th birthday. I placed the order last September 19, 2015 and I’m hoping that it will be delivered before his birthday. I inquired last Oct 1, 2015 regarding the status and they informed me that it was already delivered last September 30, 2015. But unfortunately, it was delivered after my son’s birthday. I don’t know why it took them (Xend) 5 days to deliver the book, Makati to Cavite, ang tagal lang.

Anyway, my son was surprised to see the package after he arrived from school. He liked the book and it is also a great souvenir for his 7th birthday. It is a personalized book so you can see his name “Ethan” on every page of the book.

This is also a nice gift this coming Christmas. Aside from the personalized book, you can order a personalized clock, placemat, card, coloring book, and many more. For more information, just visit their site. You can do a book tour also so you will have an idea of the story, look and feel of the book.

Book Review: 7 Things Every Wife Should Know

This year, one of my goals is to read at least one book per month and last month I went to the bookstore looking for books that I can read but I did not find any. After few days, I had this opportunity to review this ebook of “7 Things Every Wife Should Know” by Viviene Bigornia.

Growing up in a broken home is not easy because there are times I feel that fairy tales are just fantasy, love stories are for pocketbooks, and there is no happy ending. I don’t want a failed relationship and marriage, maybe this is the reason why I didn’t really entertain suitors because I’m scared of getting hurt and I don’t want to take a risk and fail.

But of course, part of me still believes that the right guy will come and I just have to wait for the perfect time. I promised myself that my first boyfriend will be my husband too. I will only say “yes” to a guy if I can see this guy as my future husband. God is so good to me because I’ve met my ex-boyfriend now husband before I graduated from college then the rest is already history.

We’re not a newlywed, in fact, we’re going to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary two weeks from now. Our marriage is not perfect, we also have our share of dramas and struggles each year. But I can honestly say that our marriage is the best thing that ever happened to me because I now feel complete. It doesn’t mean that I’m incomplete before but it is good to know that I have someone beside me as I face the future.

Being a wife is not an easy role, there are times that I wish I grew up in a complete family so I have role models that I may look up to and I know how to be a good wife. I’m glad that there are more ways to be equipped like attending a seminar, observing other married couples, and reading inspirational books like 7 Things Every Wife Should Know

I love reading this book because it inspires me to be a fascinating wife, it reminds me of my role as a wife and it motivates me to believe that there is a happy ending if we do not give up.

This book is not only for almost weds or newlyweds because even I’m hitting my 9th year wedding anniversary, I still learned a lot from this book. My favorite part of this book is “Real Lives, Real Wives” because I know it is not a fairy tale story or romantic Hollywood movie. A real story that you can relate to and apply in your life.

Sharing with you some of my favorites in this book.

“The important thing is to discover your husband’s basic needs and ways in which you can meet them. Your meeting those needs will enhance his sense of self-worth and fulfillment”

“Trust that he will provide and protect”

“The happiest wives have a sense of purpose and passion in work and cause outside of the home”

“Honeymoon should never end! Marital intimacy is a priority! Never ever stop dating.”

Dating is one thing that we don’t have in our marriage, we stopped dating when we had our son. We don’t have Yaya or a helper at home and we can’t just leave him to anyone so wherever we go, he goes. I don’t even know the feeling of having a date. A real date that spends the time together and not on gadgets

Anyway, I won’t enumerate the 7 things that you should know because I do recommend you to read this book especially for moms who tend to forget that they are wives too and not just mothers. Read and learn that "It is not only marrying the right partner...it is being the right partner - Wilfred Arian Peterson".

Book Review: I Wish They Taught Money in High School

I didn’t grow up in a rich family, we also live from paycheck to paycheck. The salary is enough to provide for the needs but not the wants. If you want something like new toys and new clothes, you have to wait for your birthday or Christmas. We don’t have a family date every weekend, no summer outing or summer classes.

If there’s no school, I don’t have money so even when I was a kid I learn to save my allowance. Nobody taught me about money, I just realized that I need to save if I want to buy something. I had my first savings account when I was in college, I know it’s already late because others have it since they were kids. I feel so rich when I had my first ATM. lol.

I was able to buy my first cellphone, I joined out-of-town trips, and was able to buy my wants because of my savings. It is my dream to save more so I was very eager to graduate and have my own work so I can save and save.

As I mentioned, nobody taught me how to handle money, how to save, and how to invest but through watching TV and reading magazines and books I’ve gained knowledge. One of the books that opened my mind is “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”.

Last month I received this book “I Wish They Taught Money in High School So I’m not dependent on my paycheck/So I Can Start My Own Business Right Away”

I was reading this book while waiting for our Kuala Lumpur flight and I finished the book before we reach Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I like the book because it so easy to understand and even the financial terms were simplified. You will be inspired and motivated because the authors are sharing their own experiences and you will realize that you can do it too.

So I’m not Dependent on my Paycheck

I’m pretty sure that most of us wanted to gain financial freedom or at least we won’t be dependent on our paycheck. When I was still working, I just wanted to save and from what I’ve read you need to save at least 6 months of your income so I followed it, even I reached my 6 months income I did not stop until I resigned from work.

I’m proud to say that my savings helped me to finish paying my insurance and postpaid bill. At least hindi ko inasa sa aking hubby because I have my own savings. So what if hindi ako nagsave, sayang ang aking insurance kung materminate lang. Saving is really a must for everyone, especially for emergency needs.

Well, of course, saving is not the sole solution to gain financial freedom. The book will challenge and show you how to achieve your dream. You will learn that money is not taboo, debt is not bad and credit cards are not evil. I must agree because I posted before my savings tips regarding cards.

I want to share the 5 tips from the book so you can transform your regular income into passive income

S - Start Small
M - Make a Habit (and stick to it)
A- Acquire More Knowledge
R- Raise the Bar of Creativity
T- Think Outside Your Salary

“Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune - Jim Rohn”

So I Can Start My Own Business Right Away

I resigned from my work because I need bed rest, having no work = no salary. Of course, I’m not used to it and I don’t want to spend my savings on my wants and needs. I tried selling house and lot, I opened my online business and recently I resell generic home products like detergent powder, dishwashing liquid, and fabric conditioner but it wasn’t successful. I earn from those sidelines but I think it is not the business that will make me achieve my dream. Well, I’m not giving up yet, I’m still hoping that I will have my own business someday.

Reading this book will make you realize that you can start your own business with little or no capital. It will teach you how to multiply your income and how to overcome challenges and finding solutions.

One thing that caught my attention is Eker’s Sophisticated Analysis because this is something new to me. According to Eker’s analysis whenever you have any extra money, you should practice apportioning it into 6 different jars. (after tax)

10% Financial Freedom Account
55% Long Term Savings for Spending
10% Contingency Fund/Necessities
10% Education
10% Play
5% Give

I do encourage you to buy this book P500 if you want to learn how to save, invest, or start your own business. Check here

Book Review: To Bliss and Back E-Book Review

I love reading inspirational books so when Abbey offered me to read an ebook; I did not have any second thought because this ebook is the real-life story of bloggers. The first sets of books of Life Well Blogged are No Laughing Allowed, To Bliss and Back, and Holly Daze: and I chose “To Bliss and Back”.

I started reading this ebook without any expectations but I was hooked immediately and this is the reason why I have fewer posts on my blog because I’m busy laughing and reading this ebook.

I love this ebook because it is a real confession story of different bloggers, both men, and women. These bloggers are brave enough to share real-life experiences that can inspire readers. Stories that you can relate because they really happen in any couple and even single mom. It shows that you are not alone and there is no such thing as a perfect marriage, a perfect husband, and a perfect wife. Marriage is indeed a process; don’t expect that you will stay on the honeymoon stage because there are ups and downs. Be prepared because there are a lot of things that you will discover along the way.

This ebook will not only make you laugh but there are marriage tips that may help you. I will be sharing some points or lines that I like.

1. Communication is really important but expects for communication breakdown and selective listening.

“Some days it’s difficult to communicate effectively when so much is being said and left unsaid”

2. Things that you should teach your son “how to be a perfect man”.

“Put your family first. Making lots of money is great, being non-existent because of it, isn’t. Every day is precious. If you knew this was your last day on earth, would you work till 7PM? Would you really stop for drinks on the way home? Would you really just get your kids every other weekend like the court papers say? Or would you come home and wrap yourself up like a pretzel around the ones you love? Any old man will tell you the truth. Ask one what he regrets”

3. Learn to resurface.

“Take some time off, take it, find time and make it happen”

 “Let him help you.”

“To the husband - Don’t forget her. Don’t give up on her. She is worth it. Remember her.”

There are more lessons and tips that you can learn by reading this ebook. This is not only for married couples, whether you are single, dating, engaged, or divorced I’m pretty sure that you will enjoy the stories.

The Mom You’re Meant to Be

I’m re-reading “The Mom You’re Meant to Be” book by Cheri Fuller while waiting for my son in school. I’m glad that I read this book again because it gives me more understanding and realization of motherhood. Like I said before, I wish there was motherhood 101 in school so I could prepare myself for being a mom. But we all know that there is no motherhood 101, no formula or even secret recipe in parenting.

We can read books, parenting magazines, and online articles to help us understand the needs of our kids as they grow but we know that some works and some are not applicable to our children because each child is different and unique.

Honestly, there are times that I really don’t understand my son and there are times that I don’t know why he is behaving like this and that. Since I was pregnant I was reading a book, magazines, and online articles but I still can’t find the answer. So I give up everything to God and ask Him to give me wisdom and strength to be the best mom for my child.

Being a mom is a gift from God but it also entails obligations, biggest responsibility and challenges along the way and I know that I can not do it on my own strength and knowledge. I guess motherhood jobs never stops, we just go through different seasons and each year and stage is very different from one another.

When my son was few months old, how I wish he can speak already so he can tell me his needs and wants but now that he can talk, I’m looking forward to quiet moments. No more demands, no more requests and no more whining.  hehe! But that is life, every day, week, month and year is a new challenge and new adjustment.  It’s been three weeks since my son started school and I’m still adjusting on our schedule and our new phase. I have new challenges that I have to face and I feel so stressed already.

I know I still have a long way to go and I pray that God will give me more wisdom, strength and grace to be the mom I’m meant to be.

Book Review: Brainy Connections EBook Review

I can’t remember if we have children’s books when we’re young except for the Bible stories books. My mom used to read me stories every night and this is one thing I missed when she left. Now that I have a son, I always buy books for him though I admit that we don’t read books every day. But I’m trying my best to read at least one book a day.

I don’t have Ebook for kids yet but fortunately, I got two samples of Brainy Connections Ebook, Codley and the Sea Cave Adventure, and Lexi Flairheart and the Forbidden door.

Codley and the Sea Cave Adventure;

Codley is an adventurous octopus who loves to explore the ocean and meet new friends. Codley has a friend named Pokie the Puffer Fish.

Codley and Pokie decided to explore a mysterious cave where they met a new friend and experienced a dangerous and strong current.

I love this book because it talks about friendship. My son who loves fish and other sea creatures will definitely enjoy this.

Lexi Flairheart and the Forbidden Door;

Lexi is a five-year-old kid who loves to bring a backpack wherever she goes. She is like the other kids who are curious and want to learn new things. She hates closed doors and she always wants to see what’s on the other side. She even opened the forbidden door and discovered new things.

This book is good for those kids who are curious and innovative.
