A Toast to Love at Tiger Leaf Asian Cuisine

John Maynard Keynes said, “The expected never happens; it is the unexpected always”. This is true because last Valentine’s Day, I already accepted that we wouldn’t have a Valentine’s Day celebration because all the restaurants we wanted to try were fully booked from February 13-16.

So I told my husband na maggrocery na lang kami pero kumain muna kami bago maggrocery so we dropped by at Evia Lifestyle Center. We walked from the parking lot while contemplating where to eat. There are so many restaurants and we already tried some of them. We already ate at Teppanya, Italliani’s, and Mama Lou’s.

Umabot na kami sa dulo and we decided na itry namin yung Tiger Leaf. In my mind, I would just order from the All Day Breakfast but the staff informed us about their “A Toast To Love” promo and I told him, sige, pag-isipan muna namin. I quickly scanned their menu to check the price range and after a few minutes, we told the staff that we would avail of the promo.

While waiting, I observed the restaurant and this reminded me of Cafe Voi La and I discovered na group of restaurants pala sila; Cafe Voi La, Tiger Leaf, San Sebastian, Another Story, Dumbo Smoke, Rustika Asian Urban Kitchen, and The Cheesecake Fairy. So medyo, nawala yung worry ko na baka hindi okay yung steak kasi may Dumbo Smoke pala sila. Also if you compare their menu, may mga similarities.

A Toast to Love Menu for PHP3595 + Service Charge

Starters

Fresh Spring Rolls
Cream Corn Cob Soup
Asian Salad

Main Dish

NY Striploin served with lyonnaise potatoes, buttered baby carrots, French Beans and finished with a rich port wine sauce.

Dessert

Creme Caramel

Drink

Red Sangria

The restaurant was not crowded so we had a good table and the service was fast. They immediately served the Kropek and Red Sangria.

When they served the food, we were really surprised because of the huge servings, kasi yung ibang restaurants na may set menu ang konti lang ng serving parang sampler size. But this one, hindi kami tinipid.

The waiter informed us that their chef is from Chiang Mai Thailand.

Since I’m not fond of vegetables, my husband ate 2 Fresh Spring Rolls and 2 Asian Salad, while I ate the 2 Cream Corn Cob Soup.

When they served the main dish, the steak was not thick but I already knew that I could not finish my plate so take-out ko yung half nito so I have space for dessert. But my husband was able to finish his steak.

We already asked for the bill when they served the dessert. Feeling namin nafood coma na kami sa dami ng kinain namin or nahihilo na sa Red Sangria. I’m not into alcohol drinks, tumitikim lang kaso sayang bayad sa Red Sangria kaya inubos ko. Hehehe!

Overall, we were delighted with our unexpected Valentine’s Date at Tiger Leaf kahit hindi nakami nakapangdate outfit. Nakat-shirt and shorts nga lang si hubby. We enjoyed the ambiance, food and service. Ang bilis ng service nila, as in, walang matagal na waiting time, pagkaubos namin ng meal, naseserve na agad yung next.

And because of our hearty meal, nakalimutan na namin maggrocery, umuwi na kami after kumain. Hehehe!

Valentine Craft Projects

I still have a long list of Valentine Craft Projects that I want to do pero ilang araw na lang pala Valentine’s Day na so I guess, next year na lang ulit yung iba.

I’m sharing the different craft projects that I made for the past few weeks.

Valentine Bookmark Crayon Holders

When my son was still in his toddler years, I always saw this type of craft project and this is a nice birthday giveaway or gifts for friends or classmates that won’t hurt your budget. I wanted to do this for a long time but I don’t have the machine or tools.

Even though my son is no longer a kid, I still purchased the Valentine Bookmark Crayon Holders SVG file. Actually, I had this file for three years already, and now ko lang nagawa.

This is another Valentine Crayon Holder but I can’t remember where I got the file.

Cute Penguin Valentine Card

This Cute Penguin Valentine Card is from Jen Goode, I got the file from one of the summits I joined but if you have a Cricut Access Subscription, you can recreate the project.

Valentine’s Gift Layered Card - Love

This file is from The Bearded Housewife’s Made with Love Summit 2024. I plan to use this as a cake topper.

Valentine Teddy Bear Heart Box

I mentioned before that I will recreate the Valentine Teddy Bears using a different cardstock. This is better compared to my first project. I used this to decorate my Heart Box.

Valentine Truck

The Valentine Truck is from Craft with Sarah, you can use this as a cake topper, tag or decorate your card.

Flower Pot Valentine Card

The truck layered craft collection is already over and Craft with Sarah has started her new collection. And so far, she has two flower pot designs but I only cut the Flower Pot Valentine Card and used it to decorate my Valentine's Card.

Butterflies and Flowers Card

I made this Butterflies and Flowers Card last year but I think I can also use this as a Valentine's Card or Anniversary Card.

Will You Be My Player 2?

This Gamer Card was my entry for Bee Happy Weeklies Week 46: Pixel. I made this last year but I can also use this for Valentine’s Card.

I printed the design, attached it to the cardstock, and glued my Layered Male and Female Gamer Gnomes. The Gamer Gnomes are from Craft with Sarah.

Cupid

This cupid is designed by Craft with Sarah.

3D Valentine Gnomes

I had a hard time cutting the dress of the 3D Valentine Gnomes but I didn’t want to waste more paper so I still assembled them even though the cut was not perfect.

Cricut Love Bingo

Cricut Philippines has another challenge and the prize is Cricut Joy + Cricut Joy Bundle Essentials. This has been on my craft wishlist for a very long time so I am trying my luck. The challenge is to finish this Cricut Love Bingo Card for one entry.

So I am trying my best to finish these 9 projects so I can have at least one chance. The deadline is still on February 13 but I wanted to finish this as soon as possible while I am still in my crafting mode. I am not yet done but sharing some projects that I already finished.

I already made these cards two years ago but this year, I recreated them but no more corners because I wanted to attach the backing card instead of inserting it.

Valentine or Anniversary Gift Tag or Gift Card

I made these cards using different elements from Cricut Design Space, I chose font and elements that are available without a subscription. This is a score, draw, and cut project. I can use these cards for Valentine’s Day or Wedding Anniversary.

With you, I am home
We're better together
I choose you today and all of our tomorrow
God knew my heart needed you

3D Love Grows Here

I also made this 3D Love Grows Here, this is a ready-to-make project, I just edited the size and colors. I reduced the file so I did not get a clean cut on some layers but I still assembled the project.

Cricut Cutie Stickers

A few years ago, I made Cricut Cutie Stickers and I used those stickers for my Cricut Mats. Now, I decided to edit my design so I can also share my project in the Cricut community.

This is a print-then-cut project and I used Printable Holographic Vinyl. I had my Cricut Maker for more than 3 years already but this is the first time that I put something on it. “Talk Crafty to Me”

Heart Vinyl Stickers

I found this “You Can Do It” reward chart on imom’s website so I downloaded, printed and laminated it. Then instead of printing heart stickers, I used my scrap Holographic Leopard Chrome Vinyl. I forgot to change my blade from deep point to fine point blade so the heart stickers became die-cut stickers instead of kiss-cut stickers.

Heart Love Shirt and Pouch

I recently watched Craft with Sarah’s tutorial about “How to Put Text Inside a Shape in Cricut Design Space” so I was excited to try it. Since it is Valentine’s season, I used a heart shape for this project. My design is not that perfect but I am still happy with the outcome.

Update:

Adding the last 3 projects to complete my card and I am so happy because I already have one entry.

Love Magnetic Bookmark

I’ve been seeing a lot of magnetic bookmark craft projects in the craft community but it never crossed my mind to try this because I already have a magnetic bookmark. The magnetic bookmark that I am currently using is already more than a decade old, sulit yung bili ko.

Anyway, because of the challenge, I finally made my first magnetic bookmark. Good thing that I have a magnetic sheet at home since I am using that for my dies. I found this LOVE SVG file on Cricut Design Space and I decided to use it for my bookmark. You can use photosticker or photopaper + phototop and of course magnetic sheet to recreate this project.

Self Affirmation Mirror

I just realized na wala pa kami gaanong mirror sa bahay so it took me a long time na gawin itong project na ito, hindi ko kasi alam kung saan ididikit. Good thing that I found this mirror, so I cut “Do What You Love” SVG file using Frosted Glitter vinyl.

Hug in a Mug

I don’t have a sublimation printer and mug press but I like this Cute Couple Bear so I printed it using Vinyl Sticker and added Glitter Phototop.

3D Love Gift Tag

Since craft supplies are not cheap, I really save my scrap paper for future use. And it came to a point that I filled up two storage boxes so I spent the first week of January, decluttering my scrap. I had to let go of some of my scrap paper and I only kept the paper that I can and I will really use for my project.

Now, I only keep one clear plastic container where I dump all my scrap and if I have extra time, I will sort those scraps into my file folders so I can arrange per color or shades. One of my goals this year is to limit my scrap so for the past few weeks, I have been trying my best to use my leftovers.

This week, I joined “Bee Happy Weeklies Week 4: Save that Scrap” so since Valentine’s Day is near, I decided to make a gift tag using my scraps. I used pink, red, and white cardstock for this project. Remember my Heart Shape Treat Box, I also used that paper so no more leftovers.

I love making layered paper craft so it is not surprising that I made 3D Love Gift Tag. I found this 3D Love Shadow Box on Cricut Design Space but I reduced the size to 2.5 inches so it can fit to my scrap paper.

I cut the design, assembled and attached it to my gift tag base. At first, I wanted to use an eyelet but in the end, I used a Hole Reinforcer Puncher so I could still use my scrap paper.

Valentine’s Craft Projects

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching so I started making Valentine's craft projects as early as the second week of January. I joined Cricut Philippines Design Space Thursday Giveaway and the theme is Valentine. There are so many craft projects that I can do but I challenged myself to create craft projects that are not part of Cricut Access Subscription. There are free images, fonts, and craft projects that are available on Cricut Design Space and we just need the patience to search for them.

My first project is the I Heart U card, This is an insert card but I tweaked the design a little bit so I can make 3 different cards.

For the first card, I just cut the original design and added an insert card.

The second card is the I Heart U Shaker Card; using contour, I removed the corners and attached it to a 4.25 x 5.25 inches rectangle. I cut the design and embossed it using die cutting machine. Add acetate 4.25 x 5.25 inches, foam tape, and heart elements. Attached to the card base which is 8.5 inches by 5.5 inches and scored at 4.25 inches.

And for the third card; I cut "I Heart U" in red color and attached to the white "I Heart U" of the first two cards for dimension. I die-cut 4.25x5.25 inches of white cardstock for the heart design. Attached to the card base and glued the "I Heart U".

My second craft project is the Heart Shape Treat Box, this project is part of the community project that I just recreated. I already shared this project on this post

My last craft project is the "I'm Crazy aBAO You" couple shirt. This is an easy project because I just cut, weed, and iron the design on our t-shirts. This is the first project that I did using the Cricut Easy Press 3 prize that I got last year. I am just not sure if my husband will wear this. hehehe!

Cricut Project: Succulent Birthday and Valentine Card

These past few weeks were quite hectic and I miss crafting, I have a lot of projects that I wanted to do for Valentine’s Day and for our Wedding Anniversary but I don’t know if I can still do it kasi ilang araw na lang. Waah! I need more time, bakit ba ang bilis ng araw.

A few days ago, I was browsing my files and I saw this Succulent Cactus Card that I purchased before so I started cutting the 4 designs. I can use these cards for birthdays and Valentines, this is perfect for plant lovers or in tagalog plantito and plantita like my husband.

Aloe You Vera Much
Free Hugs
I Hope Your Birthday is on Point
Have a Succulent Birthday

This is similar to the Christmas Insert Cards that I made last Christmas. The file includes the card, insert card, and envelope. Just upload the files to Cricut Design Space, and change the settings to pen, scoring, and basic cut. The setting is cardstock intricate.

I just cut everything and the following day, I started adding glitter cardstock and insert cards.

Today, I decided to add some colors but I don’t know kung gumanda ba o mas pumanget. Hehehe! Anyway, at least may card na ko for Valentine’s Day.

Update: January 2024

I recreated this project, but I tweaked the design a little bit. Using contour I removed the corners and background of Hug Me.

DIY Valentine’s Gift for Kids

Last Monday, I’ve read my son’s assignment notebook and he needs to bring chocolates or flowers on Valentine’s Day. We have chocolates in the fridge but that was our pasalubong from the USA so ayaw ko i-giveaway. Hehehe! So yesterday I just went to the nearest convenience store and bought a pack of chocolate. Of course, I bought our favorite local chocolate which is Flat Tops.

There is no note what they are going to do with those chocolates or flowers but since it is Valentine’s Day, I think they are going to give it away just like last Christmas holiday. They sing Christmas carols and give candies. So since I was in the mood to do some craft, I decided to make DIY Valentine’s Gift Bag.

Just in time, Designer Blog sent me FREE Valentine Printables so I immediately downloaded the Valentine Bag Topper. I bought a Blog Template from their site before and from time to time, I received freebies. Anyway, you can do this project in less than 30 minutes.

Printable Valentine’s Bag Toppers
Small clear plastic or ziplock bag
Chocolates or candies
Stapler Scissors

1. Download, print and cut the Valentine Bag Topper.
2. Divide the chocolates and fill the clear plastic bag. I bought the ziplock bag at Daiso Japan.

3. Fold the Valentine Bag Topper

4. Put the bag topper on top of the ziplock and staple it. Don’t forget to write the name at the back of the bag topper.

That’s it! A simple Valentine gift idea that you can give to your kid’s friends, classmates or teachers.
