Ciudad Elmina Fishing Village Resort & Restaurant

My husband was on a business trip last week and during their trip, they ate lunch at Ciudad Elmina Fishing Village Resort & Restaurant. It is a fishing village with recreational activities. They have rooms where you can stay, meeting room, conference room, gazebo garden plazuela which can accommodate 50 to 500 persons for your events.

As I mentioned, it is a recreational place so there are activities that you can enjoy like boating, catching live fish and let them cook it for you, horse-riding with carriage and you can also see a crocodile and turtles. The place is not along the main road so if you are commuting, you need to ride a tricycle in order to reach the fishing village.

If you are watching Kris TV show before, you are already familiar with this restaurant because they already featured this place. It is now one of the popular restaurants in Dagupan city. Price and food servings are reasonable and according to my husband, masarap ang food.

Me: Hindi naman halata na gutom kayo sa biyahe, ang dami niyo order for two persons. Hehehe!

I hope we can visit this place if ever we will visit our in-laws in Pangasinan. If ever you like this kind of restaurant, you can also visit the following.

Our Lady of Lourdes Church

Our Lady of Lourdes Church or Salasa Church (Pangasinan) is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It was built under Father Francisco Barroso in the year 1747-1748. It was renovated and repaired during 1874 and 1885 under Father Juan Terres. This church was able to survive typhoons, floods, and erosion. There are so many plans to move this church to a different location but it never happened because of divine intervention.

This was not my first time to visit this church, I’ve visited this church several times. We attended a wedding, funeral or Sunday Mass. My husband’s family is a Catholic so they attended mass here. A few weeks ago, after going to the cemetery my in-laws decided to drop by here.

We noticed a lot of improvements in the church, ang ganda na ng loob and they also have a Station of the Cross na beside the church.

Day Trip at Masamirey Cove

Masamirey Cove is one of the new resort in Sual, Pangasinan. I learned about this resort a few months ago. My husband is from Pangasinan so I immediately bookmarked this resort because I know that there is a possibility that we can visit this resort one day.

So when my husband decided to visit his hometown last week, I suggested this resort to him. I mentioned in my previous post that whenever we visit his province, nabobored ang anak ko. Wala kasi wifi or cable so he has nothing to do, lalo na kung siya lang ang bata sa bahay. Unless it is a reunion, may makakalaro siya.

Anyway, my husband agreed with me so I messaged Masamirey Cove through their Facebook page, after few hours, still no reply. I texted their number and still no reply. So I told my husband to call the resort instead so he was able to reserve. The resort is already fully booked so we had day trip instead.

Travel time is more or less 6 hours from our place, we picked up our in-laws in Laguna and off we went to Pangasinan to pick-up my grandmother-in-law and then we went straight to Masamirey Cove. We reached the resort at 10:40AM, inabot kami ng more than 7 hours sa dami ng stopover. Hehehe!

I did not see any map or directions on their website, so we just relied on Waze and luckily, we did not get lost. On our way to the resort, we saw this Sual Power Plant. This is where my husband had a field trip during his last year in college so when I saw this, alam ko ng nasa Sual kami.

Finally, we reached our destination. I thought that the resort is big but I was wrong, maliit lang siya as in isang straight lang siya from parking, rooms, restaurant, pool, cabana and beach. Limited din ang rooms kaya mabilis mafully booked.

Day trip package is from 8AM to 10PM but at that time, they have Halloween event so day trip is up to 5PM only. After paying, the staff ushered us to our Cabana.

Since there are so many guests, we decided to order for our lunch ahead of time. The meal is good for 2 to 3 persons and affordable naman. I forgot to take a picture of the menu but the food we ate, wala pa P1k. You can bring your own food but there is a corkage fee of P150 per head. Drinks and snacks have no corkage fee so we brought our own drinks, chip, and cookies.

After eating, my husband and son started to swim in the pool and play on the beach. For day trippers, there is bathroom beside the pool.

We did not stay long because we need to buy food for our dinner pa. We wanted to rest na rin kasi naman 2AM gising na kami. Good thing that we just had day trip because this resort is just an hour away from my grandmother-in-law’s house so nakatipid pa kami. Hehehe!

We enjoyed our short trip in Masamirey Cove. I just hope they will improve their service especially in answering messages kasi nakakaturn-off talaga yung hindi sumasagot. So I was really surprised when we got there. Okay naman pala service nila sa resort. They are friendly, approachable and helpful naman during our stay.

Note: Mahina signal dun so mahirap makaconnect. Cash only, so don’t forget to bring cash.

Day Trip at Lingayen Pangasinan

Lingayen is one of the municipalities in Pangasinan and it is also considered as a first class municipality and there is no question about that because I used to go here since I was a child so I witnessed all the changes and improvements of this place.

We are all familiar with Lingayen because it is part of our History subject, it is our former president Fidel V. Ramos aka FVR birthplace and one of the World War II strategic points. Would you believe that it is also considered as the most romantic place in the country?

If you are planning to visit Bolinao or Hundred Islands, you can include a Day Trip in Lingayen, Pangasinan in your itinerary. As I mentioned before, I’ve been to Lingayen, Pangasinan several times, when I was a kid, my uncle always invites us if there are events in their province like wedding or fiesta. Then I got married to my husband who was born and raised in Pangasinan too.

Now, I’m sharing with you the things that you can do or visit if you visit Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Lingayen Beach

Lingayen’s long beach is open to the public; there are cottages where you can stay if you just want to relax or if you want to swim. I have so many memories from this beach and I could no longer remember how many times I have been here.

But during our past visits last 2011 and 2016, we did not swim.

March 2011 - after dropping my mother-in-law in the market, we went to Lingayen just to show the different tanks and planes to my son. It was just a quick trip because we need to fetch my mother-in-law in the market again.

December 2016 - we were supposed to swim but unfortunately, my son had fever day before our trip so relax na lang at may Sagada pa kami. hehehe! He just enjoyed playing sand with his cousin.

Provincial Capitol

This is one of the beautiful capitols I’ve seen around the Philippines.

Aguedo Agbayani Park

Just in front of the Provincial Capitol, you can see the Aguedo Agbayani Park. This is a nice place to relax at night, mainit sa umaga syempre. Hehehe!

Cultural Memorial Park

It is where you can see pictures and read stories about World War II so if you like history you will enjoy this place.

World War II Memorabilia

Around the area, you will also see World War II Memorabilia Ground Site. There are tanks and small airplanes that were used in World War II.

Urduja House

During our last visit, we were able to visit Urduja House but we were not able to go inside the house. It is not open sa public pala but we were allowed to go inside the gate and take pictures outside the house.

Ramos House

Then we started looking for Ramos House, it is located at the back of President’s Hotel. It is also closed, I’m not sure if it is open to public or guests of President’s Hotel.

Some attractions that you can visit in Lingayen, Pangasinan are Town Park, Capitol Grounds, Sison Auditorium, Limahong Channel and Narciso Ramos Sports Complex and Civic Center.

Enchanted Cave

As promised, I will share to you our cave experience in Bolinao, Pangasinan. There are three caves that you can visit in Bolinao such as Cindy’s Cave, Wonderful Cave and Enchanted Cave. But because we have very limited time, we can only visit one cave. We chose the latter because it is the popular cave.

So far, Enchanted Cave is the third cave that I’ve visited in the Philippines. I’ve been to Cambagat Cave which located inside the Panglao Island Nature and Resort Spa and of course the famous Underground River in Puerto Princesa Palawan.

It was long weekend so the place was really crowded, good thing that we were able to park immediately.

Effective March 2, 2015, the entrance fee is P150 per person. I was thankful that they did not charge my 6 years old son.

Upon entering the resort, you will notice the coral rocks and fossils clams. I’ve read in one signage, this is a proof that the place was part of the sea 10 million years ago.

There are cottages that you can use inside.

We immediately look for the cave and as expected, the place was packed. My son was scared at first, it was his first time to swim in a cave. If you are not a good swimmer, you can rent a life jacket.

The cave is not that big, I guess it is similar to Cambagat Cave in Bohol.

After several minutes inside the cave, we went to kiddie pool so my son can enjoy.

This is the shower area, you need to get water from the deep well pump. The dressing area is beside that shower area too.

As much as we want to stay long, we need to go home early. I guess, we only stayed for 1 hour. Di namin nasulit ang P150 entrance. Hehehe!

UPMSI Bolinao Marine Laboratory

The good thing about DIY Trip is you can visit those places that are not usually included in travel packages. My husband suggested UPMSI Bolinao Marine Laboratory, where you can see giant clams.

We’ve been to Giant Clam Culture in Camiguin, way back in 2011 and we already saw different clams. Little did I know that the Bolinao Marine Laboratory is the official marine station of the Marine Science Institute (MSI), University of the Philippines, Diliman. The clams that we’ve seen in Camiguin came from BML.

After our visit to St James the Great Parish, we went to Bolinao Marine Laboratory. I was not sure if the office was open but we still tried our luck and I was glad that they accommodated us. We registered and paid P20 per person. The guard informed us, na nagstart na yung tour habol na lang kami.

The tour started in Dry Museum where you can see different clam fossils.

Then we went to AVR where we watched video about the history of BML and what they are doing.

Then we moved to Outdoor Hatchery. This is bigger compared to Giant Clam Culture of Camiguin.

We’ve seen the stages of how they culture clams, sea cucumber and even corals, from eggs up to the adult stage.

In Camiguin, if you want to see the giant clams in the sea, you can rent a boat for a fee. You can choose for glass boat or a regular boat. But I’m not sure if it is available in BML because it was not offered to us.

It was a learning experience to know and see clams, sea cucumbers and corals up close. My son even enjoyed the trip, maybe he can’t remember his trip in Camiguin because he was only 2 years old at that time.
