Sheraton Towers Singapore

For the last two Singapore trips, I always booked a three-star hotel because I wanted budget accommodation. #traveltipidtips I can’t remember the name of the first hotel because it’s nine years ago already but it is located in Little India near Mustafa Mall, the taxi driver was not even familiar with the hotel so he asked for the hotel's number so he can ask for direction. We stayed at South East Asia Hotel two years ago, an old affordable hotel in Bugis. One train ride from Changi Airport.

With our recent trip, my husband booked the hotel for us so I was a bit excited because we’re going to stay in a five-star luxury hotel. Sheraton Towers Singapore is located in Scotts Road, 2 2-minute walk to Newton Interchange Train Station, 6 6-minute walk to Newton Food Centre and 10 minutes walk to Orchard Road

From Changi Airport, we just took a taxi on our way to the hotel. The staff immediately assisted us in getting our luggage from the taxi trunk to the lobby. I gave our passports to my husband and I checked the lobby.

After check-in, the staff ushered us to our room. You need the keycard to use the elevator, you cannot press your designated floor if you will not tap the keycard. In other hotels, once na may kasama ka sa elevator na nagtap na ng key, you can press the button but here, you need to use your own key card unless same floor kayo ng kasabay mo.

Let’s have a room tour. What I like in this room is the bedside panel for air conditioning, lights, and alarm clock because I don’t need to stand up to control the coldness of the room or to turn on/off the light.

We are happy that there is a bathtub, we always love bathtub because we don’t have that at home. Hehehe! There is also a thermostat-controlled shower fixture, just like our hotel in Japan.

My favorite in this hotel is the complimentary use of a smartphone device with free services such as unlimited calls, unlimited 3G mobile internet access, and a comprehensive Singapore City Guide. I was super happy because I had no more roaming charges for this trip. I was able to update my husband using the smartphone device.

The room includes two free buffet breakfasts and the child rate is SGD22++. I was excited at first because I was looking forward to eating a buffet breakfast but I was surprised when I saw the food choices. I have to accept the fact that I’m not the Philippines so few options for me.

I’m very particular about food so I’m hesitant to try other dishes for the last three days I’ve been eating the same thing, bread, sausage, bacon, and egg. The only difference is the rice, first day is yellow rice, second day is butter rice and third day is Nasi Lemak rice. Hehehe!

I noticed that most of the guests were in business attire maybe because this hotel is near in Central Business District. we're only a few guests who are wearing casual attire or should I say rash guard for my son. Anyway, I love my view here, nakakarelax.

Every day they will clean your room and replenish the toiletries and complimentary water, tea, and coffee but on our fourth day, I was surprised when I opened the door, the room was still the same then I saw a note on the floor.

“We stopped by in order to clean up but we noticed your "Do not disturb request". Please call to reschedule, time 2PM”

So my son, press the privacy button without me knowing it. Well, what do you expect, kids love to press any buttons.

I also like their slippers, it is so soft and comfortable, sayang nga lang once lang sila nagprovide ng slippers. Update (June 2017) My husband went back to this hotel and unfortunately, they changed their complimentary slippers to ordinary ones. It is no longer soft.

During our last day, we decided not to go to the Gardens by the Bay because my husband promised my son that they will swim. Sheraton Towers Singapore has an in-house sauna, swimming pool, and fitness center. My husband and son only tried the swimming pool because of limited time.

That is one of the reasons why I prefer booking affordable accommodation because most of the time you are just out and you cannot enjoy the facilities and amenities of the hotel. But I’m not complaining because we enjoyed our stay in Sheraton Towers Singapore, I love our comfortable bed and pillows, hotel service and of course, it, is near MRT.

The only downside of this hotel is, there are no nearby restaurants. There is Newton Food Centre but during our visit, it was closed for renovation and will resume on September 8 so during our second night my son and I have no choice but to order in the hotel.

We all know that hotel food is expensive. Good thing my son and I enjoyed our meal, dapat lang SGD32 ito. Hehehe!

Don’t forget to use your SPG card for points.

Update: October 2017

My husband always stays in Sheraton Towers but it was only this month that he received something. The night before he check-out, he saw this complimentary box in his room. I told him that the chocolate was mine because the letter said "Ms Solee". hehehe! Lagi na lang napapagkakalaman name niya na girl.

  1. Aww. I love that they provided so many services for you and your family especially the free smartphone access (free calls and internet!). Looks worth it for the price. :)

  2. It looks like a very comfortable place to stay. You and your family got pampered and that's a major bonus when traveling! I rarely write about my accommodations when traveling, but I guess I'm missing out something if I don't. It's just that I don't really have too much to admire or care about the place I stay in, because I'm too occupied by my itinerary. haha But I guess it will change in the future, when I no longer spend more time outside. Love the extra feature of the lobby! It's always pleasant to see interior garden arrangements.

    1. I feel you, sometimes you just want to sleep when you reach the hotel. The lobby is really nice, not the usual lobby I've seen. :)

  3. Surely backpack travelling is one fun way for the young and adventurous ones, however, we can never deny the fact that comfort is something that we cannot afford to be left out especially when we have kids around. This post really defines comfort and luxury in one. I like the way how you gave us a glimpse of the hotel. This will definitely be on my list if ever I have the chance to visit..hopefully budget permits! Haha!

  4. Awesome hotel in Singapore! The photos are a bit small. But from what I can see, it's a very comfy place to stay. Whenever I travel I also prefer cheap accommodations. This is so that I can spend most of my money sightseeing than staycationing!

  5. I think the hotel is still lacking for a five star one. The only thing that caught my attention is the complimentary use of smartphone device with mobile data. That is pretty handy for roaming around. I just wonder why you didn't choose in Marina Bay Sands instead for their unique pool. -Me-An Clemente of http://yogoandcream.com

    1. I also like Marina Bay Sands but it is expensive for our budget. I'm not sure if it is worth it because I've been reading mixed reviews. But their pool is really nice.

  6. I remember you commented on one of my posts saying you wanted to go back to SG and here you are now! :) Were you able to visit the SG zoo? The hotel looks nice and great, I like what you liked the most too! haha. And the bath tub, of course! ♥

  7. I think 3 star hotels are good enough. For many tourists, the idea is to have a place to stay while spending much of the days and nights outdoors. Personally, I do prefer 4 and 5 star rated hotels because they are usually the ones that are closest or at the business districts and commercial places. You mentioned keycards required to operate the elevator, and that is a layer of security for guests, which I appreciate. I do not use the facilities though even if star ratings correlates to facilities. One thing too that one can enjoy in a 4 and 5 star hotel, service. I have stayed at Sheraton hotels on some travels too. :)

    1. Yes, 3 stars are fine but if you have extra budget 4 or 5 stars is much better when it comes to service and comfortable stay. :)

  8. I stayed in Sheraton in Indonesia and the experience was nothing but exceptional. In Singapore, I prefer to stay via Airbnb as I find it more affordable. Extra money can be used around the city for food. hehe I highly appreciate their free use of smart phone with mobile data. Really helpful in traveling.

  9. That complimentary use of Smart Phone is a brilliant idea! Hotels here in the PH should adopt that too. BTW, I also love bath tubs. Bubble bath and a glass of wine!
