Ingredients
1 medium size egg
2 tbsp oil (I used melted butter)
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1 250g Maya Hotcake Mix
Cheese
Procedure
1. Beat the egg. Add oil (butter), water, sugar and hotcake mix.
2. Mix the ingredients and put the batter in puto molder, I use silicone molder.
3. Add cheese on top of the batter.
4. Place the molder in the steamer. Steam for 10-15 minutes depending on the size of your molder.
I love the result of puto with cheese and I will definitely use hotcake mix again. Next time, I’ll add salted egg.

Steamed Puto with Cheese from Scratch
Finally, I’ve made my first steamed puto with cheese. I got this recipe last year but I never tried it till I saw Bechay’s post. So yesterday, we made this for our merienda and we were so happy with the result. I was able to make 26 pieces of puto in less than an hour. Pwedeng pang potluck. =)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cup white sugar
3 tbsp baking powder
3 eggs beaten
½ cup melted butter
3 cups fresh milk
Quickmelt cheese
1. Mix the dry ingredients
2. Put eggs, milk, and butter. Mix the batter well.
3. Put the batter in small muffin pans and let it steam for 10 minutes or until the inserted toothpick comes out clean.
4. Put cheese on top and let it steam again until the cheese melts.

ReplyDeleteI haven't thought of that - using pancake mix to make puto. Brilliant. I'll try that some time with a little recipe adjustment on my end.
