Baluarte

As promised, I will create a separate post for this. Baluarte is the only zoo in the Philippines that has no entrance fee (as far as I know). They say that it is not just a zoo but a wildlife sanctuary wherein visitors can interact with animals. It is open every day from 7AM to 6PM.

At the entrance, you will see the small horse-drawn carriage called “tiburin”, the rides are free but of course “manongs” are expecting the tip. I know that it is free but my husband who’s not reading my itinerary asked manong if we can ride the “tiburin” and if it is free. Then manong whispered, tip lang po

I do give tips but I dislike when people are expecting them. Anyway, we rode the carriage and he brought us to the camel, took some pictures and he dropped us off at animal encounter shows.

Hubby was so active at that time and he always volunteers. Well, time to shine. After the animal show, you have a chance to take pictures with their tiger, P50 per picture. If you use your own camera, P20 per shot.

We stayed for less than two hours and then we went to Calle Crisologo.

  1. We share the same sentiments when it comes to giving tips. I mean, if i liked the service hindi ako manghihinayang magbigay ng tip pero if hindi maganda ang service then mageexpect pa, goodluck sa tip na makukuha nila :)

  4. ^katakot talaga, nung tinouch namin yung tiger as in dampi lang, biglang lingon agad sa min so hindi na namin hinawakan. hehe!

  5. Michi Gov. Chavit Singson, the owner of this show doesn't allow them to ask a tip - naisahan kayo ni manong. Besides, bakit niya sinasabi na magpapatip siya agad? Magagalit si Gov. kapag malaman niya ito.

  8. Wow! This place looks so cool! :) My sis and I are animal lovers and yung interaction talaga ang hinahanap namin na hindi ma-provide ng zoos here in the Metro. Hope we get to visit Ilocos Sur not only for the food and heritage sites but for this zoo.. :D

  11. At least they allow taking photos using your own cam. Kahit may bayad ok na yun. In SG zoo, they take your photo then you'll have to have it printed at a booth. Kainis pa, they block your view whenever they catch you taking photos of your friend holding the animal. Highway robbery! Dyosko mahal ng price a! =)
